Yeah M. Tyson's PPVs versus Bruno in 96 and Lewis in 02 are the only ones I recall having MAJOR crossover appeal and achieving very high interest with casuals prior to the modern AJ/Fury era, where it's become surprisingly routine.

Only £5 I can remember was that card promoted by Eugiene Maloney - I felt so short changed that night cos they showed Tyson vs McBride that was on 24 hours previously and I paid money for that also.

What I do remember was Hamed no name defences (even after he started being on PPV) being on "normal" sky - can you imagine that now? Same with Lewis - I think Akinwande was on normal Sky.

It was £8 and was Earl-Bennett. It must have flopped because they never tried again.

I seem to remember the early ppv Hamed fights being a fiver- perhaps I’m wrong

The first was Bruno Tyson 2. Just under a tenner. Then they realised that it was a highly lucrative model abs upped it to £15. I can’t remember exactly when but I don’t ever recall sky charging under that ever again. Certainly not with Hamed. They would sometimes air them weeks later but usually for free.

Look at the value for money the PPV Tyson V Bruno bill was. 5 world title fights and the UK undercard with Naz top of the bill. Look at the depth of quality in modern day PPVs compared to then and we all thought Don King was the devil back then.

I remember being on one PPV undercard, starting in Basingstoke, decent card, I think Dean Francis and Ross Hale were joint topping the bill, then it went onto the States to show a Naz fight and others.
In total there was like 10 hours of live boxing all for about a tenner!

We got a number on the Fury PPVs yet? 1.5mil estimated… if it is 2/3 of that I’ll be surprised.

I remember Saturday afternoon bills on ITV. Terry Marsh, Pat Cowdell, Prince Rodney.... SKY ruined boxing as a popular mainstream sport,.

i cant see myself getting ppv agin too many links, i feel bad saying that as boxers deserve there dough, i hate how there is some many subscription channels now , couple of years ago i knew most up an coming fighters uk ire to fighters in the usa now cant keep see most now nor is there a good site to watch them back shame boxing is going like wrestling in the 90s only really going to know the top few now shame.
