It will be a TKO win for the arm hitter because of the other guy not fighting back.
Ffs don’t go encouraging our referees mate.

Terry O’Connor needs no encouragement.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned elsewhere but when Canelo came up to congratulate him Bicol gestured towards his bruised shoulder and wagged his finger.

Boss level sh1t right there.

I like him from the interviews I seen. He made Canelo look pretty shit tbh. People keep on about size but he reckons he can make 168 comfortably.

His win was about boxing skills. He’s had some razor close wins Canelo, I’m not sold on him being this major ATG tbh. He’s excellent against the right opponents. Not versatile enough to be classed as an top ATG imo.

I had Golovkin winning both fights against him. The first fight especially I was like 'ffs' when the result got announced.

Willie Pep did it once.
Isn't that one of the great boxing myths
An oft repeated one anyhow. It never says who the opponent was.

Whether it's true or not I really don't care.

Some old school fighters have spoken about how much it hurt just to block shots from the bigger punchers, I think one of Rocky Marcianos opponents of sparring partners who said he didn't care where he hit you because it always hurt it as long as it made contact

A shot to the opponents arms doesn't score points , but if he's been bit 300 times in the arm by the fourth round of a long fight by a bit puncher, it might affect his defensive and offensive strength later on

Same mate. He fought great in the second fight but I still had GGG winning. The first one if felt was clearly Golovkins. Lara beat him as well.

I like his style but he’s clearly susceptible to being outboxed. In terms of ATGs, the likes of Leonard, Hagler, Hopkins, Robinson, Ward, Dela Hoya, Whittaker etc would take him to the cleaners.

canelo's limits are that he needs to be set to punch, making him suspetible to movers, his stamina isnt great (he cant fight full rounds), and he's a bit programatic - like specific combos have been drilled into him and he has to think of exactly what to throw before he does it, rather than more fluidly reacting

of course he's also fast, powerful, has good timing, excellent head movement, an iron chin, and is a great fighter. but ya i agree that those types of atgs would be too good

I think Winky Wright at his best would do him as well.

You get hit on the arms enough it hurts ,, also no one has mentioned , if your throwing punches , the ones that miss, take it out of you more so than the ones that land on target or arms .. wearing his arms down were obviously part of the plan ,,, If anything it sort of showed Canelo was believing in his own invicibility ,, next tim i think he'll concentrate more on his own jab and slipping ,, don't think it will work though

its also why dudes facing a defensively good fighter should focus on the body, for one it's a bigger target than the head, it can't move out of the way like a head can, and hitting arms doesnt look as bad as swinging and completely missing. if it adds up some damage to the guys arms , then a bonus there too

the amount of times i see a guy head hunting on someone whose head they can barely touch ,...........

Marciano deliberately targeted Roland LaStarza's arms in their 15-rounder for the world heavyweight title (after LaStarza nearly won their first fight). Marciano broke several blood vessels in LaStarza's arms.

I am absolutely positive that fights have been won- or perceived to have won i nthe fans minds- owing to a 'body attack' that mostly landed on arms

watching on tv (or indeed from ringside*) there are quite often instances where the angle makes it impossible to tell if the shot landed on the body or the arms or elbows.

* it is possible sometimes to see that a punch has *impacted* properly on the body, even if you are directly behind the fighter taking the shot and can't see it impact on them, because the sweat flies off their back in a different way to how it would have done if absorbed on the arms

‘I took most on the arms and gloves!’

‘Yeah I was aiming at your arms.’

‘Ah ok. You win then. You are the best.’

‘Thanks. You hear that everyone? It’s his opinion.’
