I didn't see it as a chess match. Romero was trying to press without much thoughts. Davis wasn't even boxing, he was looking for an opening.

I didn't see it as a chess match. Romero was trying to press without much thoughts. Davis wasn't even boxing, he was looking for an opening.

Neither guy was really committing to their attacks, both were patient waiting for an opening, there were a few straight back hands landed to the body but the KO punch was the first power shot landed by either man that I seen

Romero landed a good power punch on Davis right at the end of some early round, 1st or 2nd, as I can recall. Romero's IQ is just too poor. He tried to go at Tank, but Davis was enough good with avoiding Romero's primitive aggression and setting his own target. Romero was iced while attacking opened wide like a bar brawler.

CompuBox stats are shocking:

23 punches landed each through 6 rounds.

Looks like Romero carries a bit of power , but he's so open and upright .
Taking the Davis fight after only 16 fights and losing isn't the end of the world but you can't see him mixing with the elite of the division .

That's low for two Miller sized heavyweights. For two lightweights it's pathetic. No wonder it was boring

were they roided up.....or have Duran, JCC lost out.

Gervonta fought like he knew he couldn’t lose, happy to let rounds go just looking for that one big shot. And he only went and got it. Weird GTK was up on the cards, not that they mattered.

I imagine the tactics will be significantly different once he’s in a much more competitive fight. He may, for example, throw a jab.
