I’m not against women boxing, let them do what they want. What I am against is the fact that it gets thrown upon as if it’s some sort of treat. Put a card on with all girls on it and let’s see how it gets on.

Maybe a terrestrial broadcaster could get behind women’s boxing the same way the Beeb have with women’s football.
They could have live cards every now and then on BBC2 or highlights on a Saturday lunchtime like back in the day.
It would get viewers and allow the sport to grow steadily at its own pace, in its own space.

Problem with last night's 'fight' was the casual watcher wouldn't have a clue why Price was on a co-main event and no doubt didn't care either.
Olympic boxing medallists mean nothing nowadays let alone women ones, off the top of my head there are only 3 maybe 4 who would mean something to a non boxing fan, Harrison, Khan, Joshua and maybe DeGale. The rest I can't even remember as there are so many and none of them have crossed over.
I guess we will get similar rubbish in a couple of weeks when Price's partner fights in another 6 round pat a cake bore.

Sky had way too many..
Is that why people preferred the BT card?
MMA is different..

Are you against a women making her debut in pro boxing against a countries’ only professional ladies boxer as chief support? With both girls records 0-0 and 5-2?
I don’t mind woman’s boxing but it needs to be competitive and if it’s not… it needs to be in its rightful place on the card, ie before the bell.
7pm first fight up would’ve been ok in Lauren’s case.

If they had it on mute maybe. If they had the sound on Adam smith let everyone know how 'great' she was/is/going to be and why we should all have the same chub on that he seems to have.

Lots of uncompetitive men's fights and they are often and should be at the bottom of the undercard and off the tv.
I get why these fights need to happen but they shouldn't be showcased.
Obv the same goes for women, I suppose the problem is that it's usually completely uncompetitive and low level in world title fights.

With men it doesn’t massively matter as an overmatched opponent will usually get blasted out double quick; and if they don’t at least we have the hope it may happen. Not condoning it or being hypercritical but it usually happens in the mens game… unless you have a stupidly negative journeyman but thankfully mostly them fights aren’t on television.
With ladies you know you’re in for all the rounds on the most part. Very few stoppages even when massive disparity in skillsets.
The only way I can stomach woman’s boxing on the whole are the short, frenetic rounds. If they move to 3 min rounds then that might take a decade off my life when I’m older.
Can you imagine Price v The Female Thor over 40 mins? fornicating hells bells. No!

I would say that maybe 1/5 womans fights are properly matched enough to be entertaining.
When I go to a show, and there is a womans fight, you can tell in the first 2 minutes if it is going to be any good. Then it can be a handy time to go for a pee, restock the beer etc.
If I'm watching at home, man I long to be able to hit the fast forward button....

ya - men's mismatches far more often get one guy blasted out. sure dub-bryan was a big mismatch, but it went 3.5 rounds and we got a brutal ktfo out of it. women's mismatches more often than not are nailed on distance fights
and just in general, women's boxing doesnt have the same quality that makes boxing special to me. that anything can happen anytime, sense of the unexpected. its not so much the ability level that makes women's boxing hard to stomach for me, it's that its overwhemingly nailed on stuff devoid of any drama or big turns or highlight reels. you almost always sit there knowing what you see now is what youre going to get until the final bell, and that's a buzzkill
and there's a near total lack of any beasts, monsters, or hot sh!t prospects that make you go 'damn!'.

Women's boxing is basically "go on the PS5 for half an hour time."
Nobody cares. Oh, and female commentators--please don't. They grate on the ears.

Women's boxing absolutely should be showcased, especially if there is huge scope for improvement in the overall quality. Girls and women at home will see it and think "Maybe I could do better than that"....and take the sport up. Like I said earlier, the sport will only survive and thrive when grassroots clubs survive and with everything else competing for the attention of youngsters, clubs need boys and girls, men and women participating.

I know the broadcasters have their woke agenda and I know that promoters like to penny pinch - though when will this end ?
Almost every tv show now has a usually mis matched woman’s main event. Up to 10 tedious rounds of shoe shine punches and silence from the crowd.
For every Taylor / sorrano there are 100 fights like prices last night.
And what’s the solution ? Seperate female headlined / stacked shows ? Womens boxing further down bill? Even fights only ?
That's ridiculous - they don't have a "woke agenda".
Not one bit.
Like a Russian oligarch investor says to Eddie, "Oooh I must have more women matches on equal pay - it's not the money, it's important in these times of #MeToo...."
Just doesn't happen.

Its utter pish. Totally ruins the atmosphere.
The only way to stop it is to boycott cards that have crappy women`s fights on. Did we ask for it? no. So why accept it?
Just cos some curtain wearing lemon decides that inclusion should be rammed down our throats, doesnt mean we have to eat it.
What`s next? men`s netball in tight shorts? Mens synchronized swimming? Men being forced to sit down to take a pish as standing up is a sign of inequality and male alpha dominance?
Put on an all womens boxing card and see how many turn up.
Women dont watch womens boxing, so why make the men suffer through it.
People telling us to suck it up??? suck my plums.
Post of the year
And..I agree

Sports broadcasters should have a public service responsibility to encourage girls to participate in sport. the grumpy middle aged people watching telly who have had their chance should suck it up for forty minutes or so and feel a little bit proud that their subscription money is, in part, going towards helping the next generation of children to get inspired.
No you’re bang wrong. It could be argued that one remit of public service broadcasters should be to promote wider engagement in sport but subscription sports broadcasters which is what we’re talking about here only have a duty to entertain their paying customers.
As other posters have said, the only way to stop the insidious creep of sub standard dull as ditchwater girls fights is to vote with your wallet. Eddie et al will suddenly be a lot less woke if it starts affecting their profits.
Thank fornicate for Tivo and the mute button. I was able to watch the enjoyable BT show on Saturday with four blokes in the studio and two on comms, all stalwarts of the game, covering decent fights and then later on fast forward through all the Sky shite with the appalling Smith and Jonas commentary muted to watch the highlights of that card.

I don't mind women boxing on the whole, It's fair to say that the standard is generally poor, there isn't a huge pool of fighters which doesn't help but in fairness we do get the odd decent fight.
The hyperbole for me is the killer, it's beyond ridiculous. Adam Smith and SKY are leading the way. It's cringe inducing.
Lauren Price shouldn't be so high up on the card, or if she is then not against that type of fighter. Her opposition has fought close on 20lbs below that weight previously. It's embarrassing and shouldn't be promoted as a positive step for women's boxing, it frankly isn't, unless you get a semi on for such mismatches.
I get why SKY have done it with price. By their own decisions they are now so heavily invested in her that it makes sense for them to showcase her. They kind of have to, double down on their decisions.
Be it on their heads though and it should be criticised for what it is.

Hype is definitely detrimental to women’s boxing.
Take the Jonas world title that was portrayed like something out of a film. I mean come on, it was a gimme.
It just gets the backs of boxing fans up.
I genuinely don’t think many would have an issue with women’s boxing being given appropriate airtime if it was sold honestly for what it was … a developing sport that needs broadcaster support to grow.
