Good to see 2 fighters on the up clashing

I am buzzing for this show. It’s local to me and I have tickets. I can’t wait.

Pigford is trained by a novice in terms of pro boxing, a guy called Kev Thornley. He has a small little gym in Poole and recently broke away from Steve Bendall. Thornley also trains another local lad on the bill, Lee Cutler.

It’s really good to see local boxing get some big exposure.

Top of the bill is throw back to Friday nights on sky sport's domestic scene. Undercard looks awful on the away side.

fancy smith here, coming of the back of a good win against McCarthy , i feel he will go after chamberlain and make it hard night for him, he is big has a tank works hard, i think isaac alawys is a little to small at this weight when it gets real

Wouldn't mind cbs vs Jack Massey. I think both are bangers and neither would hang about. I really like the cruiserweight division. Fit, athletic fighters who are skilled and can bang.

I like the main event a lot. Smith caught my eye a while back and this is a tough test that I feel could go either way.
I would love to know who Clarke and Pigford are fighting. And one chick fight, I don't mind Caroline Dubois, but it is still a good opportunity to take a slash and refresh the Beersies

Seem to recall Chamberlain had some acclaim going into the Okolie fight. 2 unbeaten prospects, maybe just the comms bigging him up?
But that was already 4 years ago (early 2018), and since then Isaac has fought just 5 times.
I know the covid years put a dent in things but Okolie since that fight has had another 10 fights & wins & CBS has had 11 fights since the second half of 2018.
That seems odd. Questions on Chamberlains desire to be in the game maybe?

Nope. Both still TBA and less than a week out. Really like the main event but the undercard will be heavily one-sided.

It is a bit sad. Like you and others on here, the main event is hopefully going to be a cracker, but the rest if the card...
Also I want to see how Clarke develops in the pro game, I've followed him as an amateur as much as I can, and think- given the weakeness of the HW division right now- that he has as much chance of success as any of the prospects.
And I like Pigford too, he has been on my prospect list for a wee while.
Both guys need decent challenges or else they are just treading water.
The Eraser is 30, and Pigford is 29. No time for either to muck about.

I’m sure I remember Hearn doing an interview I think after Chamberlains fight with Luke Watkins a few years back. I think he said he wanted to make Chamberlain against CBS then, at the time CBS was probably 8 or 9 -0 and Chamberlain allegedly turned it down and Hearn said he was disappointed. Chamberlain didn’t fight for Matchroom again and CBS went on to gain credit in losing to Riakkpporh and then go on his own run.

Clarke was down to box 39 old Latvian Igors vasiljevs, who’s won 4 lost 2 , was stopped by Thomas Carty last time out .

Heck, I think he could put Chisora to bed if his cardio was up to it.

Billiam-Smith: No Advice Needed From Okolie, Chamberlain Not The Same Fighter Now

Top cruiserweight Chris Billam-Smith has not sought out any pre-fight advice from WBO champion Lawrence Okolie, who holds a unanimous decision win over Isaac Chamberlain.

Billam-Smith will defend the EBU, Commonwealth belts against Chamberlain in Bournemouth on July 30. Sky Sports will televise.

Chamberlain recovered from his only career defeat at the hands of Okolie, to win five in a row - and four of those wins have come by knockout.

In his last fight, Billam-Smith picked up the biggest win of his career with an eighth-round TKO in a rematch with Tommy McCarthy.

He intends to make things very tough for Chamberlain.

"Yeah I think [Chamberlain will be mentally tested]. It's going to be loud in there, he's obviously going to have a very hostile crowd towards him," Billam-Smith told Sky Sports.

"That will be tested and I think we'll find out on the night. I think every spar I have, every fight I have is grueling for my opponents because of the way I fight and I think that's one of my best attributes so I think it will definitely be grueling for him both mentally and physically."

Billiam-Smith has a game plan in place for the bout - a strategy that has nothing to do with input from Okolie. Both Billam-Smith and Okolie are trained by Shane McGuigan.

"I haven't spoken to [Okolie on what to do], we've spoken that the fight's happening but no game plans or anything like that. Lawrence is a different fighter now to when he boxed him, I'm sure Isaac is as well, but me and Lawrence first and foremost are very different fighters with different styles and very different strengths. For me, I'm just using my strengths and doing what I do best. Maybe we'll have a conversation if it comes up, but it's not like I need to have that conversation with him," Billam-Smith said.

Take Joshua, he got at least 2, maybe 3 controversial decisions in the Olympics. If the first one had gone the other way against the Cuban, which is probably should, would he be worth the hundreds of millions he is worth today?

Joyce gets robbed in the finals and look where he is at.

Actually, ive scored all 2012 London fights for Joshua except final. Camarelle won IMO. Agree with Joyce, but i think his pro career is good in 14 fight, bad think is hes 36 already
