Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - Who wins?
yeah, this isn't actually going to happen, is it?
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - Who wins?
Both of these guys are protected as all hell. That's why the only ones names they're even talking about are each other because they're both unproven. Neither wants to tangle with a proven talent.
Based on what I've seen of 'em I'd favor Garcia by a hair
Nothing would surprise me though.
More shocking than either of them winning would be these 2 fighting at all. They'd both rather stay safe in their Mommy's arms.

Garcia’s best win is Campbell?
Davis’ best is Pedraza like 5 years ago lol.
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - Who wins?
That's definitely the best win for either man. I'd say Campbell is the single best win between either of them.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 14:58Who has the best win from either resume?gilgamesh wrote: ↑13 Oct 2022, 13:20 Both of these guys are protected as all hell. So both of 'em's biggest win are victims of the top guys, and neither of 'em so much as breathe the names of any of those top guys.
I've literally not once heard either Garcia or Tank mention Lopez, Loma, Haney or anybody that's really at the top. They're f*cking p*ssies.

Report: Davis, Garcia Agree To Framework For January Fight; PPV Distributor Sticking Point
Representatives for Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia are inching toward a deal for the undefeated rivals to square off in a 136-pound fight at some point in January.
According to a report Monday night from Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix, pay-per-view distribution is the significant obstacle that has prevented Davis and Garcia from finalizing their agreement.
Boxing Scene has confirmed, as Mannix reported, that Davis’ handlers, Premier Boxing Champions’ Al Haymon, Floyd Mayweather and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, want Showtime to be the sole distributor of their pay-per-view main event in the United States. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Eric Gomez and founder Oscar De La Hoya, which represent Garcia, have pushed for DAZN to be a co-distributor, along with Showtime, of Davis-Garcia in the U.S., where the bulk of the pay-per-view revenue from the event will originate.
Showtime has televised Davis’ past 11 fights either live on the network or on pay-per-view. DAZN has streamed seven consecutive Garcia bouts, but none of those fights have headlined pay-per-view shows.
Paramount Global, which owns BS.com, also is the parent company of Showtime. Mannix, in addition to his work for Sports Illustrated, has long been part of DAZN’s broadcast team in the U.S.
Despite the aforementioned impediment related to pay-per-view distribution, Baltimore’s Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) and Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs), of Victorville, California, have traded insults on social media and appear eager to settle their differences in the ring.
Davis, a talented knockout artist who will turn 28 on November 7, wants to silence skeptics who’ve constantly criticized his level of opposition by beating Garcia. The 24-year-old Garcia, like most opponents, is taller than Davis and has fast hands and power, yet he would encounter the most dangerous opponent of his career if he faces Davis next.
Whomever Davis fights next, he is due in a Baltimore courtroom December 12 for what figures to be a two-day trial related to misdemeanor motor vehicle violations Davis allegedly committed in November 2020 in his hometown. Davis has been charged with 14 traffic violations stemming from a hit-and-run incident.
If handlers for Davis and Garcia, as well as network and streaming service executives, can come to a distribution solution acceptable to both sides, Davis-Garcia very likely would do robust business on pay-per-view in the United States. An agreement would also come at an opportune time when frustrated fans are still disappointed by Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford failing to finalize contracts for their long-anticipated welterweight title unification fight following prolonged negotiations.
Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) announced a deal Thursday night to make a voluntary defense of his WBO 147-pound championship against Russia’s David Avanesyan (29-3-1, 17 KOs) on December 10 at CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska, Crawford’s hometown. Spence (28-0, 22 KOs), of DeSoto, Texas, also will face someone other than Crawford next, rather than the IBF/WBA/WBC welterweight champ waiting for the outcome of the Crawford-Avanesyan bout.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - January 2023?
“We look at where there have been co-promotions, it’s been in the biggest events of all time,” said Stephen Espinoza of Showtime to Fight Hub TV.
“It’s hard to explain how much more difficult it is going through with a partner joined a the hip with every single discussion. We saw crazy results with Mayweather-Pacquiao, like with the tickets not being on sale until fight week just to pick one.
There are a lot more complications than ‘let’s do it together.’ It does affect a whole range of aspects and makes things more difficult. Then there’s the aspect of, ‘is it necessary?’
“We’ve seen Top Rank fighters released to go on DAZN. We’ve seen DAZN fighters released to go on Top Rank. Probably DAZN’s biggest fighter since they started, Anthony Joshua, just did his biggest fight on Sky Sports in the UK.
“So if I’m Ryan Garcia, I’m asking, ‘Wait a minute. So this guy can go across, and Anthony Joshua, who is critical to the business, he can go somewhere else. I get a life-changing experience and the most important fight of my life, and I don’t have the flexibility to go?'” said Espinoza.
“There’s one side that’s made the offer,” said Espinoza. “Tank’s side has made the offer. They’re driving the business offering. They have a certain view on how the network should work. I don’t, and that’s where things are.
“DAZN is going to insist on being involved in a certain way. That may or may not kill the opportunity. I don’t want that to happen. We’re working for that not to happen, but at the same time, there are certain business realities.
“Mayweather Promotions is definitely involved in this. They’re part of the negotiations. No one wants to be an obstacle in this, but at a certain point, there are business realities.
“I would say it’s close. There are a handful of issues. Some of them big and some of them small,” said Espinoza.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - January 2023?
Garcia is one one of DAZN’s biggest stars. I’m not surprised they’re wanting to be involved as contractually they have the right to be.
They should just do a co-promotion and get the fight made.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - January 2023?
I doubt this fight happens. Same old story. DLH will demand DAZN be a promotional partner, Ezpinoza, PBC, and Floyd will say no.
What's next for GB fighters? I'm guessing Virgil Ortiz won't get a big fight.., like R. Garcia and Munguia.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - January 2023?
Garcia has contracted deal with GB and GB have an exclusive deal with DAZN. I get them wanting to be part of the broadcasting.
It’s not like DAZN are small fry in the US now. They’ve done the biggest 2 PPVs of the year.
Gervonta and Garcia bring similar amounts to the table. Both will bring their own followings and add to the PPV buys.
Gervonta reportedly doesn’t have a contractual promotional/TV deal.
For me, Espinoza and team Mayweather should let it be a joint PPV and get a great fight on. PBC/Team Mayweather haven’t managed to get many big fights on this year and need to be more flexible.

I’m shocked that Ishe Smith, formerly of Mayweather Promotions, thinks Mayweather Promotions should be the only promoter and that Mayweather Promotions’ TV network should have exclusive rights.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia - Spring 2023
weird that it would be a 136 catchweight. I would of thought you would want to be able to say its a WBA world title fight.... Useless to true boxing fans, but tricks plenty of casuals.
I understand garcia will struggle to make 135 these days. but fornicate if he is going to 136 anyway... if it was 137.5 id understand more... Unless they can convince one of those vacant 140 belts to be on the line... that would be a stretch.
