ya haye had talent for sure and was in some good fights (and some stinkies), but he talked loads of sh!t too, let's be honest. there was plenty of reason not to be one of the fanbois who made him the savouir back in 2010

....Mostly because i paid for the PPVs then lost money betting on him twice

I was a big Haye fanboy first time around, to come back giving it the bigg'en but knowing its all a lie because his body was shagged and he just needed the money tarnishes his legacy for me.

I thought the fights with Bellew were a liberty, he knew his body was shot to pieces, and admitted as much after the 2nd fight.

I think Haye over achieved imo. Great cruiserweight but was excellently manoeuvred to the WBA regular title.

For what its worth I really rated Haye but working for him enabled me to see his good and bad points …

Believe it or not although Haye won Cruiserweight & Heavyweight world titles … because he didnt hold onto his heavyweight title for too long and then injuries I place him in the under achievers list.

Finally, the parting of ways with Adam Booth certainly did not help.

Whats your opinion on Haye?

He says he made a lot of money from the fournier fight.

Yeah. I remember being surprised at having to explain to a boxing fan mate why Klitschko was a deserved heavy favourite. A lot of focus on Klitschko's chin and not, y'know, the fact he's bigger and hits harder and has excellent feet and all that

David Haye had this very high, but narrow peak where I thought he was one of the best cruiserweights in the world.
Then he stepped up, was starting to carry injuries, and I think the added weight slowed him down.
I definitely think there is an argument for best cruiserweight England has produced. Decent heavyweight for a very short period too.

I was a very big fan of Haye. Wore the Haye Maker t-shirt with pride at quite a few earlier fights .. in fact pretty sure the t-shirt is put away somewhere 'safe' now.

Unfortunately as is the way in boxing - it's the latter fights you get remembered for .. and to lose so decisively to such a plum as Bellew ruined Hayes legacy .. bizarrely Hayes former high regard seems to have actually passed onto Bellew.

When the monies gone the former greats only have former glories to reflect on .. Bellew being such a gob shite makes a very effective barrier in Hayes career distracting from that.

He was brilliant & would’ve been better had it not been for the injuries.

I don’t think of the Bellew fights at all when I think of his career. He wasn’t fit to be in the ring in either of them.

Mormeck, Enzo, Valuev, Wlad & Chisora are the fights I remember him by.

I think the tactics he employed in the Wlad fight were right it was just that he couldn’t catch him & hurt him. I think he caught him once with a good shot in the 12th but Haye wasn’t an inside fighter & he didn’t have a good engine so he was never going to be able to push Wlad back or rough him up. The plan had to be catch him with a big single shot & then finish him off with a flurry. He was never going to win a points. He just ended up looking a bit daft when it didn’t work as he didn’t try to win rounds.
