Ortiz is ancient.

From spots 6-14, most of the fighters will not be listed in two years!

Hgrovic deserves to be higher. Zhang should rate. Outside if Usyk and Joshua, this list is full of garbage!

Not averse to putting him in at 15, but I can support leaving him out as well. Waiting for Hunter-Fury, I think that'll give us a rightful 15th place fighter.

I dont belive he is top 15 truely either. But i do belive he just did enough to overtake hrgovic.

he beat takem (it was close but 95+% agree)
Hrgovic "beat" zhang (it was close but 80ish% think he lost)

They have zero significant wins outside of that but if i were to have to pick id give macs resume a slight edge (still trash).

So the question is zhang or takem... whos better?... i personaly think takem is better than zhang. and in there best comparison fight against jerry forrest, takem did much better. so actualy beating takem is better than "beating" zhang...

So based on all that, although i think Mak is absolutly not good I think he deserves to leapfrog above hrgovic.
Agree with this.

Mahkmudov was head hunting too much with a lead right hand in this fight. Takam made the fight very competitive, but Mahkmudov still actually won the fight. Hrgovic? No, he lost that one.

Mahkmudov to #15.

What is your top 15?

My top 15 pays attention to who they beat fairly recently, the age of the fighters, and their potential to rank higher. Very much a best guess as who wins now mixed in with their resume as of 9-20-22. Since the division lacks depth and is unproven in the middle rage to 15 spot it would go sometime like this.

1 ) Usyk
2) Fury
3 ) Joshua
4 ) winner or Parker and Joyce

Then a drop to

5 ) Ruiz
6 ) Wilder

Then another drop to the young guns

7 ) Hrgovic
8 ) Sanchez
9 ) Bakloe
10 ) Jalolov
11 ) the loser or Parker vs Joyce
12 ) Makhmudov

And the hanger on's

13 ) Hunter
14 ) Whyte

And for the 15 spot the most untested but a talented prospect.

15 ) Huni

Man. The division is a mess! There really isn't a top 15 these days, so I'm going with young pro's who have proven it on the highest amateur levels.

So i'm, guessing Hrg has the potential to rank higher, because he's not exactly young and his recent wins have NOT been good.

Why do you have Hrgovic so high?

Because he can box, punch, and take a punch. He's got the #'s height, and reach advantage over most. His win over Zhang impressed me as he over came a cuffing / pushdown of a knockdown, and an early clash of heads. He won the fight on my card, and Zhang would be in my top 15 if he wasn't so old. You just don't see a heavyweight puncher with good of a defense and he is a southpaw. The combination is a rarity. Zhang's bit of a unicorn. A rare fight that raised both fighter's stock.

I think he was tested by both of the above and beat a formidable heavyweight. Like I said the division is a mess. An off night, for Hrgovic. He was acting strange in the hotel and did not attend much to hype / promote the event, perhaps he was upset about his father passing? I'm guessing.

Ring magazine who has good ratings has him at #8 and Zhang at #10 so it just not me. A they have a panel who votes on the top ten too.

At any rate he fights for the IBF world heavyweight title next. Usyk who owns the IBF belt will likely drop it than face Hrgovic. That's why he 7th and he was utterly dominant in the fights before.

I expect him to be the next world champ.

It's crazy to be basing rankings on hypothetical potential based on the eye test. That's giving validity to the alphabet orgs who rank random undefeated guys in the hope they can become a champion.

Also, Jalolov's name stood out to me more than Hrgovic. He has serious potential but how he could be ranked 10 with his record shows that ranking based on potential makes terrible rankings.

Agree its a mess, Agree it will change lots but you cant put guys there that have done nothing.

looks like your rating on how good you think people are, rather than what they have done. Its a big difference and i try to go mainly on whats done (so do most on this thread) and a bit on how good the person is.

Jalolov is good, but his best win is still soko.. where as whyte has a win over Parker, which is rock solid (parkers better than whyte in my opinon but whyte stillhas the win.)..

If (big If) these youngguns take just a couple of decent fights they will be top 10 in no time. But unfortunatly Huni and DDD are the only ones showing an desire to take tough fights young.

What has anyone done outside of the top 5? Between whom, and when. See my point? The list, any list of spots 6-15 is very thin. That why I grade them on what they have done in the past three years and their potential.

Wallin and Ortiz are also on here based on losses. At least Chisora has a victory (on paper) against Pulev (even though I thought he lost). A lot of people have tried ranking Dubois based on a loss and Hrgovic is ranked by an arguable loss aswell.

I agree it's a shallow pool but the problem with these lists is you end up with the same small number of people voting every time so it's impossible for favouritism not to creep in.

The clamour to drop Fury while he still held the wbc belt being a case in point. People couldn't get him off the list quick enough.

To be fair, we werenโ€™t the only ones to drop him.

I think the majority like Fury on these forums. Despite his constant retiring and chatting bollocks.

TBRB, Ring, BoxRec removed him.

Only ESPN still have him ranked and thatโ€™s probably due to the Arum links.

It was vacating the Ring belt for me initially, before he said he plans on being a 3 time ring champion, just Like Ali was.

ESPN recently dropped Ortiz from their top 10 and Anderson dropped in.

How can you have Anderson in at #10?

Surely Sanchezโ€™s win over Efe is more deserving.

Unless Anderson has a good win that Iโ€™m missing.

A current heavyweight list without the current unbeaten wbc champion lacks credibility though. Shouldn't even have been a vote on it.
