Clinton was the absolute bollocks. Really brave, tough man. Calzaghe should have fought him when he was IBF champion for a proper belt. That would have been a big fight that would have filled a football ground.

Jamie Moore and Matt Macklin both won it.

Paul Ingle took the “traditional” Route.
British, Commonwealth, EBU then IBF(?)

Another odd thing is years ago, ex world champions were more than happy to fight for domestic titles after losing the championship, like Dennis Andries and Silky Jones. You don't see that now

I miss it and wish they'd get rid of all these fake versions of the Euro belt. Time was when you didn't need a fūcking bank of algorithms to work out what level a fighter had reached...

I really like the European title. However, like the British, it’s got a lot worse in the last 5 years due to reduced activity for the belt and several good fighters bypassing it and opting for the intercontinental nonsense.

Realistically, you have guys like Whyte and Joyce who could right now be European champions, guys like Dubois and Chisora who could be reigning commonwealth champs etc. If you aren't the best of your region in the world then there's no shame in going for the European or commonwealth belts until you earn yourself a title shot.

Joyce Vs Parker for the commonwealth belt would've been a deserved and worthy title. Ruiz Vs Wilder for the North American belt aswell. Whyte Vs Povetkin for the European belt and so on.

The WBO European Belt has been hazardous.. Guys like Yarde won that, call them the best in Europe and climb the WBO rankings as well and get a world title shot.

Recently the IBF European belt has been making rounds.

These organisations across the pond creating a Euro belt is hilarious.

The WBO keep having guys not from a region fighting for a regional belt. If only top boxers had more sense....

Spot on Mitchell smith was ranked 4 in the world with only a English title victory. Current wbo highly ranked archie sharp the same without a with of note will probably end up with a vacant title shot when his dodged domestic titles and clashes. Same as yarde.

The EBU title seems to of regressed in significance the bigger the European area has grown

Lerrone Richardson has gone the traditional route. No idea what's going on with him. He dropped the IBO title and is fighting Zak Chelli in a non title affair. Weird career
