Most fight fans have their favorites that they make every excuse for.
Duran was a fun watch and easily an all time pound for pound fighter. Not much to dislike about the guy

There are legitimate excuses and there are lame excuses. Losing because a guy is old counts. Losing because you only had 5 months to prepare for the fight is lame.

Have never seen anything like the excuses for Duran. Lost to Leonard because of a tummy ache, had to take the fight on short notice etc. Lost to Benitez because he had to move up in weight. Everybody moves up in weight. Somehow lost to Kirkland Laing. Had to move up in weight. People act like he is the first fighter to ever move up in weight. It's the norm.
The guy had 16 losses and there are excuses for 15 of them.

Not much to dislike?

Terrible personality? Check.
Dirty fighter? Check.
Quitter? Check.
Excuse maker? Check.

Animal Cruelty? Is this related to the horse KO incident which never happened?
Homophobia? Sticks and stones. These are boxers we're talking about, not ballet dancers
Cheating? Who, when?
