I don’t think officials are generally on the take financially.
In my experience they place a lot of value on being part of the boxing scene and ingratiating themselves with the top brass (promoters and actual fighters).
That can lead to a massive bias… conscious or not.

When promoters. managers and fighters get a veto on officials then an inevitable consequence is that some officials will develop bias, subconsciously or consciously.
