Yeah but he's trying to stay relevant and maybe get a nice payday. I doubt G is interested of fighting him.Thomastearns wrote: ↑27 Dec 2022, 17:08apollo creed wrote: ↑26 Dec 2022, 17:02I could understand the burning desire of an old fighter to still compete after he has done that his entire life but then what's the point of being badly injured and be crippled for life??wrighty wrote: ↑26 Dec 2022, 13:40 Martinez was good for years. He had those wins over Williams, citron and what not. I don't know why he's doing this, he doesn't need the money?
With GGG its sad he was dodged, Cotto didn't want to play, neither did Martinez. Sturm literally paid money not to fight him whilst he was fighting people like Koji Sato and Ronald Hearns. Geale fancied it and lost.
Pirog was up for it and fancied his chances, even dropping his wbo belt for it, then he injured his back and retired.
Or maybe Martinez is mentioning G's name to become more relevant? Its funny because when G was younger, guys like Martinez, Quillin or Sturm were shying away for him big time.
Martinez had a lot more to lose back then.
On second thoughts he might have even more to lose now.
No, no, no.
