pace seems to be getting to nery more than azat, his work has gotten a lot messier and he's getting easier to hit

azat coming back stronlgy at nery, putting together shots to the head and body. nery seems gassed, but then lands a big left hand that hurts azat and the ref suddenly jumps in. not really a satisfying ending but excellent fight

Excellent fight shame about the stoppage, not the worst but still a bit strange, Nery looked class early , Hovhannisyan was dangerous especially to the body and the rounds were always competitive but first half of the fight Nery was tattooing him with southpaw left hands and his quality was winning rounds but at the midway point Hovhannisyan began landing his left hook and Nery seemed to just gas, looked flatfooted and was getting backed up and bullied a bit but then out of nowhere in the 10th caught Hovhannisyan with a huge left which rocked him on to his heels before another big left dropped him, Hovhannisyan got up but was nearly stopped before the bell went

Hovhannisyan seemed to be recovering well in the 11th when Nery hurt him again with another left and the ref jumped straight in, Hovhannisyan was hurt but it was a closeish fight, not the worst stoppage by any means but still thought it was harsh on Hovhannisyan

nery vs inoue would be cool still, judging by how azat's body work seemed to affect nery i wouldnt like his chances vs inoue though

A solid caim for the FOTY. The plodding Eastern European tough guy against the Western slickster with the Mexican toughness, that's the clash of styles and characters, which make exciting fights.

Nery weighed/rehydrated to 139 lbs, hours before stepping into the ring for this bout.
This is what the commentators pointed out. They also mentioned that he very likely gained a few additional lbs,
During that more than several hours time-gap. Likely 142 lbs while in the ring. Which means he was basically weighing as much as Pacqiou weighed In at for the Delahoya Welterweight bout back in 2008.
That seems like a weight-bully. It's fairly common though. He's not particularly tall or reachy either so I guess fair-play..?
At least in this modern era of boxing, it basically still is.
Definitely would Love to see him take on the winner of the Fulton-Inoue bout. Especially if it winds up being Inoue.
I could see that bout being very thrilling. Not so much so if he fights Fulton, but still that could be an interesting clash of
Varied styles. Nery vs Inoue would be a guaranteed fight of the year type of bout though, being that they're both
Very Aggressive take charge Brawler/Mauler/Sluggers. :box:
