Taylor owes Catterall nothing. Let’s be fair, Catterall is horrible to watch. Much rather Taylor v Lopez.

Ben Shalom talks out of his arse too. Saying today that Catterall may take a fight in March if Taylor is ducking... they’ve literally already announced on the fight poster that Catterall is fighting in March
One of the most (unintentionally) comedic posts I've seen on this forum.
Out of interest which bit of my post is untrue? Catterall being horrible to watch? Taylor having no contractual obligations towards Catterall? Taylor v Lopez being a better fight?
Where did you talk about Taylor having no contractual obligations in your original post? You said Taylor owes Catterall nothing, which is clearly nonsense given the nature of that first fight. You can deflect (as you've already attempted here), by saying he technically/legally doesn't, but if you are a truly impartial fan then that he clearly ethically owes Catterall a rematch.
The fact you talk about Catterall "whining" reveals your true colours. A professional boxer who has made untold sacrifices does enough in 99.9% of people's eyes to win a fight that would be life-changing for him, yet is denied by unjust decision... and you have the temerity to talk about him being a whiner when he campaigns for a rematch. Speaks volumes about your own character.

‘Owes him nothing’ as in it’s not like the rematch was ordered by any governing body.

As for my own character, you don’t even know me and it’s just an opinion on boxing, chill out it ain’t that deep.

I'm not trying to be deep. It's an observation based on a clear insight. Considering Catterall a 'whinner' says something about your character, whether you choose to acknowledge that or not.

There is no slanging match. It's generally accepted that behaviours are insights into character - I don't know Billy Joe Saunders personally, but 99.9% of people would accept that it's still perfectly plausible to form an opinion on his character based on his behaviour in the public domain. Likewise, calling a dedicated pro like Caterall a whinger says something about you. That's all. Nothing more, nothing less.

The build up with Taylor, Lopez Jr and Lopez Sr will be entertaining to say the least.

Yeh, fair enough. Just genuinely find it disappointing on a forum like this which is populated by self-confessed fans that there's such a lack of empathy for Catterall's position - we all know how short and precarious boxer's careers are and what should have been a life-changing win for a good, honest pro has instead degenerated into a fiasco. Can you honestly blame him for feeling hard done by? Hope you can understand that PoV.

I can but for me the best response would have been to get back in the ring, rattle off some wins and get back in a position to fight for a belt again ASAP instead of still going at it on social media/YouTube interviews a year later.

I know he’s aggrieved but when he was posting photoshopped pictures of himself holding all the belts I found it a bit cringe.

Honestly mate if I was Taylor, the risk-reward factor- I think Lopez is quite beatable relative to his rep and the $$$ he brings, and especially for Taylor at 140- I’d be fighting Lopez if I were him. I wouldn’t be sympathetic if it were a fight with any lower profile or $$$, but I kind of give Taylor a pass on this, I bet he must make 2x or 3x the money?

Nobody will call Taylor a ducker for preferring this fight.

Sort of fight that will look good in his legacy, I guess more money too

Ducking Catteral to take on Lopez..... good luck with that!

it's quite easy to argue...........cat gave him hell and he wants no part of that.

Yes, and I feel Catt won, but by taking on a better fighter, the former unified lightweight champ, it wipes the slate clean.

it's not the same as giving another shot to the guy most people thought beat you. catt already gave josh hell, lopez didnt. josh has controversy over his fight with cat, not with teo. when a guy is robbed, as many thought cat was, there's a general sense of injustice and that he deserves another go. taylor instead fighting another guy doesn't address that.

plenty will still think it's ducking, I guarantee you it will be easy to find examples of this if josh ends up fighting teo

and besides, taylor's already fought elite opposition, like prograis. a guy ranked higher than cat by nearly everyone. whether taylor fights top opposition, and he clearly does, is a different issue than him giving cat a rematch
