Date set.
Looking likely to be the rematch at AO Arena.
Why Manchester and not Sheffield, if it's not Nottingham? I think they're missing a trick here, Lara-Warrington III seems much more appealing a fight, Wood to take on the winner.
Sheffield holds same amount as Notts.
Maybe they looking at getting some local lads.
Campbell Hatton? Aqib Fiaz, Jack Catterall?
I suppose so. It'd better be step-ups for those involved on the undercard; I saw Clarke and Fiaz mentioned. If it's Catterall-Foley, Clarke in an English eliminator and bog-standard fights for Fiaz and Hatton that's not a good card.

Which Clarke are you talking about?

Chev Clarke. Was meant to be fighting Spelman in an English title eliminator per the BBBofC on the last Lara-Wood card, but Dec had to retire. I saw Nick Parpa has a (presumably non-title) fight lined up but hopefully the Board order something for Chev next. I rate him, exciting fighter to watch.

Mauricio Lara vs Leigh Wood rematch set for May 27 in Manchester
Mauricio Lara and Leigh Wood will run it back on May 27, plus Jack Catterall making his Matchroom debut.
Mauricio Lara and Leigh Wood will indeed run it back, as Matchroom Boxing officially announced a rematch between the two featherweights today, set for May 27 in Manchester, England.
Lara beat Wood in a fantastic fight on Feb. 18 in Nottingham, Wood’s hometown. It was a really compelling fight to watch, as Wood boxed very well and was leading in the fight, before the heavy-handed Lara dropped and stopped him in the seventh round.
Lara (26-2-1, 19 KOs) took the WBA featherweight title from Wood (26-3, 16 KOs) that day, and now Wood will attempt to get it back.
Promoter Eddie Hearn also said that the winner will face Josh Warrington, which is quite a testament to Warrington’s drawing power, since he’s 1-2-1 in his last four fights and coming off of an IBF title loss to Luis Alberto Lopez in December.
But Hearn has wanted to make Warrington vs Wood for a while now, and there’s also legit bad blood between Lara and Warrington. Lara upset Warrington in early 2021, and their rematch ended in a technical draw seven months later. The two went at it following the Wood vs Lara fight in February.
The show will also feature the Matchroom debut of 140 lb contender Jack Catterall, plus more to be announced, and will come a week after Matchroom’s big Katie Taylor vs Chantelle Cameron show in Dublin, and three weeks after Matchroom’s Canelo Alvarez return in Mexico on May 6, so Matchroom are putting together a busy May, at least, with some good fights and big names in action.

I’ve no problem with the rematch but we’ve now got Conlan - Lopez, Billam-Smith probably in a world title fight & Lara - Wood all on the same night.
It’s just daft.

Shame to have 3 good fights on one night.
They will all do decent tickets too I would imagine. CBS surely looking at 10-15,000 in Bournemouth as long as it's world title fight and priced right. Conlan will sell out. Sure the Manchester Arena will get 10-15k in too although they must be reliant on Leigh Wood big time for at least half of that.

Hope he proves me wrong and he's a great watch , never in a dull one .

Crazy clashes on this date.
I wonder if people will try pump up their undercard to win over fans , or try save money with shit undercards, or run eary or run late…: or just absolute business as usual.

Hardly any of the ticket buyers will care about the others. They have pretty loyal fans. It hurts the tv crowd, and us in particular.

Wood was 1/5 on live betting. It looked like he was in control but the problem is that Lara is always dangerous and carrys serious one punch power. Wood does not have the ability to be totally disciplined and keep his defence nice and tight throughout. Laras attacks are too unique and explosive. Leigh needs to hurt him and take it to him for me. Getting clipped while doing the boxing route is probably going to happen again. A good trainer would have Wood boxing from range but also going in and taking it to Lara, and prepare thoroughly for the left hook. Lara throws it in several different ways. The right glove has to be glued to the chin.

Crap. Foley has been beaten by domestic level guys in Brown Ennis and McKenna in the last few years. What happened to Catterall wanting Prograis? Whining fraud.
