If nava doesn't flag, looks the more versatile and better fighter

nava again putting it on valdez, valdez looking worried. suprisingly forceful show so far from nava. he ate a few left hooks just fine too

Agree, he looks the goods through 3. But 9 rounds can be a long time, I expect him to tire in another couple. Will be an interesting fight by 5hen, unless he gets Valdez out.
Valdez face is really red, he is walking into plenty.

valdez is so much faster, yet it's nava's slow winging shots that are getting there more

i missed most of the 2nd, but i have 1, 3,4 for nava through 4

close to beatdown territory, though valdez is landing just enough of the counter shots to not have it a totally one sided fight yet

10th round coming up, nava should be well ahead . valdez's punches are desperate swing. for someone so fast he is looking limited. for someone so slow nava is showing a lot of craft

Not sure I saw Valdez throw more than two punches at a time until the 10th. Hard to beat a volume puncher with a great chin like Nava that way. Nava should be way ahead

All action bout, very exciting ! - a little troubling to me that there was no examination of the Valdez eye by the ring doctor - maybe I missed it - there was no commercial cut aways in my location of the ESPN telecast so I think there was not a doctor check.

I'd been watching the severity of the eye and redness since the mid rounds.
If you ask me they should have considered stopping it around the 9-10 round mark, problem was Valdez was fighting back and appeared to have energy.
Tough call, but considering where he was on my card I'd have stopped it, his eye was hideous.

Totally agree, by the 11 round all I could think of was the 1958 Carmen Basilio eye from the Sugar Ray Robinson bout - brutal. Hope Valdez recovers 100%.

Same here, it looked pretty bad.
He was apologizing afterwards too, he didn't need to do that, he went above and beyond and has nothing to apologize for at all.
I think the fact that Morales and Barrera were there likely added to the let's go all out for it mentality, that's ok to a certain point right, sometimes you need to save them from themselves.

I missed this but cards digest a wide win for Nava.. didn’t expect that, at 28, 3 weight world champ and off a good win surely he can get a bit more momentum going now.
