Don't think it would matter who was in the team if the fights were good but they have been pretty awful lately. The likes of Price and Artingsall are channel changers and the so called superstars in Okolie and Buatsi have been duds

Smith would have been trying to make out that the Price and Artinsall fights were the second coming of Gatti Ward. There is no negative to him being gone trust me.

Sky’s problem is not Shaloms fault.

They should not have given the boxing contract to one promoter. To add to the problem they gave the contract to an unknown & inexperienced promoter.

At the sametime a promoter submits a purse bid for a fight/show … he should be considered by Sky whether to televise that show live.

Watch the quality go through the roof.

Agreed. But when are purse bids relevant? World level only. Or at EBU or British Commonwealth level. I’d love to know if anyone can impart wisdom. ?

The reason why I mention purse bids is ANY promoter can bid for rights to the fight. Thus strengthening a promoters hand when bidding with tv for a one off show.

Albeit not on commentary, where he had no place in being when he was responsible for the product.

I'm sure he was an excellent head of department and a force for good. Where I diverge is os his commentary. The fella couldn't read a fight and impart what was going on in the ring. And having him turn up on comms for the chief support and main event added, whether intentional or not, an underserved pomposity to his relevance as a broadcaster.

But as others have said, I hope he's OK, and hope he plays a realistic part in the UK game's future.

Turning up for the main event commentary job that he gave himself so he could look like Michael Buffer turning up to announce the main event. Because he was in charge nobody could turn around and say your presence on commentary is detrimental to the product you complete moron. I'm glad the pr*ck is gone. He ruined too many fights by giving himself a job doing that and no doubt he was well paid for the job he gave himself that he was incompetent to do and ruined many a fight for me and many others. Quite a few times I had lads around for a fight and there was a collective sigh and moan when he turned up on the commentary. As someone who gave money to Sky for a subscription and had to mute the commentary when the w*nker was on, I will always reserve the right and take every opportunity to talk sh*t about his commentary and revel in his absense.
