I thought it was crap. The main event was ended by an average one-two and he went on to thank Peter Fury. Inoue v Fulton today will sh!t on the skill level of that shower put together.

And Aspinall is one of the best strikers at heavyweight. That’s why I, and many others, have zero interest in Fury/Ngannou. Will be a complete mismatch.

I think it’s a bit pointless comparing the ability of MMA guys at striking to boxers. They have to become proficient at many disciplines (grappling, wrestling, jui-jitsu, muay-Thai and kick boxing) whilst boxers can focus on one thing.

It takes a lot of skill to become good at several different disciplines.

Quite. There are so many ways you can lose. It's the ultimate test of versatility and commitment. Hence how the likes of Meatball Molly get exposed by fringe talents for their lack of all round technique.

One of the best things about the UFC is, you don’t have to wait 5 years to find out if a prospect is actually any good.

More often than not when you see someone score an impressive / explosive win, guess what, next time they’re getting stepped up a level.

Good point! And it's virtually impossible to protect an 'O.' Though they might be trying their level best to achieve that with Paddy 'No Head Movement' Pimblett.

Yes Paddy falls into that “marketable but not that great” category, so in his case he’ll probably be matched more carefully before losing. But at least nobody is being conned.

Boxing could learn a lot from UFC. No question about that. But regardless of how poorly run boxing is, as a spectacle to watch it kills MMA.

Pimblett lost his unbeaten record in Cage Warriors years ago. Like McGregor before him, he'd lost a couple before he even got to the UFC.

No when they announce the fighters in UFC it's their full MMA record that is read out.

Yeah they do like to drop that one in a lot. It seems to be that despite any past losses suffered elsewhere, if you're doing so well currently or showing enough potential so as to be welcomed by the UFC, then you can pretty much reinvent yourself.

That, and losses don't carry nearly the same impact as they do in boxing.

Just another mouthy scouser who is a novelty to the Americans because of the accent and he looks like Owen Hart, it's a gimmick thing, it seems to be decade of the scouser in that record Bellew, Pimblett,, Till, the two villains on Corrie and Eastenders, but they'll get tired of the "I'm automatically funny, charming and hard because I'm scouse" stuff soon like we all did

UFC is a promotion with a monopoly on most of, certainly the western hemispheres best fighters

It is also a promotion with a history of gangsterism, shadyness, fornicating over its fighters, robbing them, humiliating them when they dared speak out, blackballing some, rewarding others (kicked out of the TUF house for fighting, then make a storyline out of Junie Browning doing it even though he's mentally unstable and dangerous)

It's not MMA

Browning ended up cutting one of the other fighters with glass

They kept this lunatic on just for ratings

It's just another hypocritical shady promotion, that happens to be in a good position right now

Back in the day, Cage Rage used to just announce a fighter's Cage Rage record. It was bush league nonsense and you'd guys like Ken Shamrock being announced as having a Cage Rage record of 0-0.

They used to do that with Conor McGregor when he had loses before the UFC.

There was a time where it was used to differentiate between a padded record and a legit record because going 10-0 outside the UFC, or orgs eventually owned by the UFC, was easy. Going 10-0 in the UFC was difficult because of the skill level was a big jump up. However, now there are so many unworthy athletes in the UFC it doesn't have the same weighting.
