There are more middle aged men who pretend they used to be boxers, school boy champs etc.

In the old days they used to have Lonsdale stuff, which was difficult to get back then.

Now you also get the sort who wear Tap Out t-shirts

I see that sort around too. By used to box, they usually mean they punched a bag a couple of times at the gym 20 years ago. Could have turned pro but they got an injury and had to retire.

Similar with football, β€œyeah I got scouted by a few clubs had trials with Arsenal but injured my leg and had to give up”

Middle-aged men pretend they are a lot of things, a lot of it is due to low self esteem or the realisation that they've done absolutely nothing worthwhile in their pathetically tedious boring life.

It's almost akin to when I was a kid and some kids would claim to know karate (height of the kung fu classics).

We used to respond "yeah and 10 other Japanese words"

I understand having a pic taken with a famous person you may have a load of respect for, but I cringe every time I see a fan having their photo taken with an ex boxer whilst raising a clenched fist .. what's that all about
I prefer the pointing or the "one" finger

I am grossly guilty of getting photos of loads of boxers … I feel I got to know a fair of them.

If I was asked what fighter I knew the most … itnwould be David Haye so much so I feel I could write a book on him.

The nice David Haye was extremely funny, generous and a pleasure to be around … the last 6 months I saw the total **** and for years I hated him for it. By the time I finished working for him I was almost the last member of the team remaining.

What was the crack there spud? I'm always curious about why Groves left the team. He was on a tear!

People still to this day doubt my version of events. Some even pour scorn on my claim of that I was in
the Hayemaker Gym on the very last night that Groves came to collect his personal items.

It wasnt a pleasant occasion with Adam Booths
PA in tears and me telling George to **** off.

Irreconcilable differences is the most logical way to explain things
