Garber it is.

I’ll take a guess that Garber has known for at least a month about this given when I asked on here a week back someone immediately knew who the opponent was. So on the plus side it’s not as last minute an opponent as it seems.

I’d imagine that Carty is a pain in the arse to match make. He’s won the Irish title but with respect what does that mean? That the next ranked Irish heavyweight will want to fight him.

Just seen Carty has a fight in Dublin against Pavel Sour the weekend after next.

I hope it’s done with the 6 rounders after this.

There's only 2 Irish heavies. The other is Sean Turner who has fought once in 2023 and then not since 2018. Sean has been a full time Kinahan gang member during that time.

I wonder if hovanasyan is scared now…

I saw that big boy was double booked with carry and hov and thought that carty would ko him and ruin hovs dates…

Big boy beats Carty was not on my bingo card. I rated Carty.

Unless Carty pulled out with a broken hand or a busted shoulder or somthing it will be very tricky to bounce back for him.

Did he hurt his leg getting battered? Or did a 400lb man step on his foot?

Yeah he fought at MSG saw the weigh in on his social
Media and thought Christ they’ve picked one for him here but yeah if you get injured badly enough it doesn’t matter who you’re fighting.

You always hope that an injury defeat won’t affect you but Christ had he won at MSG he may have got a follow up fight with whoever was promoting and now it will be tough as history tells us he will have some easy touch fights to get his eye back in after injury so that’s really buggered his career by a year at least.

Honestly looked stunned by a counter and then the leg kind of gave way. Not sure why Packie Collins didnt pull him out when he was hobbling around the ring. What's the point in exacerbating the injury when it's clear its a significant one. Did more damage to the ligaments. The opponent called himself a 400 pound James Toney and while I wouldn't go that far, he does show some poise and is looking to counter.

The ref was a joke too, Carty was very much the home fighter.

But then maybe he could have given it a technical draw for an unintentional injury

Or just disqualify the other fighter

Yeah I'll be honest I'd feel a bit embarassed claiming I beat a guy if that happened to him. Surely a no contest?

But a technical draw can only given where a fighter can't continue after an accidental foul by the other fighter - at least, that's the case under British rules, and the British accidental foul rule was basically imported to make us consistent with other jurisdictions, so is likely to be the case in this fight. I didn't see a foul here by the opponent, so if Carty's leg just gave way, it's very unfortunate, but he loses.

yep, the leg is no different to the head or trunk area. could be cramp, acl tear, fatigue, or whatever, your body failed you and your opponent's did not. there was no foul, boxing is black and white like that. he should have pulled Calloway over the ropes with him à la Ben Whittaker.

I wouldn't mind seeing Calloway again but not if hes going to come in at that kind of poundage. He actually has some skills but coming into fights like a beached whale isn't doing him any favours.

If you could get a no contest for that type of injury, they'd be all sorts of ankle/bicep etc. "injuries" happening to fighters down on the scorecard. Unfortunate, but that's the way it needs to be sadly.

Absolutely.

From a wheelchair to a return fight within six months. Vinny Paz-esque comeback.
