It might sound a bit hypocritical cos I listen/watch but I do find it a bit strange how he’s become this voice of sport. He’s not an ex athlete or from a journalist background. Obviously he has a sports business background but I cannot imagine the uk population flocking to hear Mike Ashley doing a podcast about snooker.

He’s obviously got a bit of charisma which clearly goes a long way with the British public and I’d guess I’d listen to an Eddie Hearn on Rugby podcast if Eddie did not admit he knew nothing about the sport.

Cannot see him going into promotion or anything now. He has his niche and he’s earning a fortune from it. Likewise I cannot see Gary Neville or Roy Keane returning to football management, it’s a much easier way to earn a coin talking about it.

With YouTube as it is, Simon Jordan (as is Neville and Keane) are influencers for the older generation.

Hes brilliant for a sound byte, but in reality his interrviews are boring as fcuk. Usually just him and another knob head talking over the top of each other a la bellew and hearn.

The truth is if you just ask subtle questions these ego maniacs will trip themselves up and contradict themselves, watch luois theroux. These blokes are all ready for his 'hard hitting' questions and you can ptactically write the script.

Fury team intimidated by Jordan becasue he has an opinion?

I don't rate his chats, his one with Hearn just transcended into a slanging match, who could get the last dig in while talking over each other. The Booth one again didn't really go into any depth and missed fighters like Grove out. Unless his guests give him a list of questions to ask and what ones to leave out.

He’s more interested in the sound of his own voice than actually interviewing his guests or debating issues.

His ego gets in the way of any actual journalistic intent. He doesn’t claim to be a journalist though so I guess that’s his modus operandi.

Groves kind of covers it in this interview. I've heard Groves say on his podcast that he felt Booth abandoned him on the run up to the first Froch fight. Both seem quite stubborn characters too. I guess Booth sees it different though so would've been good to hear his side.

It mentions Partridge having seen bare knuckle boxing in a barn between two raging men, ‘naked as the day they were born.’


I then about a year or two back saw a clip of some Russian dude bare knuckle boxing on YouTube. He was famous for being quite handy in that Russian slapping league. In the comments of that video I quoted verbatim that Partridge boxing quote.

Amusingly 3 months later a Russian guy replied to me in Russian asking ‘es nacht?’ Which translates as ‘were they really naked?’
