Wow what a highly arrogant, dismissive response.

My thoughts are that the people who paid for it exercised their freedom of choice to do so.

Larry Merchant made that comment over 10 yrs ago - and things continue to get worse for boxing.

Whilst as a sport, boxing in some form or other will always be around. Its demise will place it increasingly lower in the minority sports.
Boxing for a long time was one of the most popular sports .. most knew the heavyweight champion of the world and a couple of the more charismatic lower weight champions. Thats not so the story nowadays ... soon, as nobody is interested, then making millions from the game will not be an option.

That young Mike Tyson type figure shadowboxing somewhere in oblivion, with the expectation of getting the whole world interested again is going to find himself in too deep of a hole for anyone to see him.

Your blasé, dismissive and yes highly arrogant response when engaging in debate about misfits
and professional boxing is staggering.

You do not seem concerned about the highly impressive rise in popularity of misfits and offer no concerns about professional boxing when it is revealed misfits have achived 1.3m ppv buys against the catastrophic dwindling popularity of professional boxing.

The reason I don't seem concerned, is because I'm not. Misfits boxing is popular, so what? In ten years time there may be lots of boxing fans, who said they got into the sport by watching Misfits. It's not a threat to professional licenced boxing IMO.

Dwindling popularity? Have you seen the numbers Anthony Joshua has done throughout his career?

At last reasonable debate.

You should be concerned the ever increasing profile of youtube boxing and soon celebrity boxing is a threat.

With regards dwindling popularity is highly
Concerning. You mention the highly popular and high profile AJ … I am telling you
Fury v ksi competes with some of ajs recent fights in ppv sales … and the highly impressive ppv sales from misfits is only just the start

What is more distressing is the only professional fight that is able to compete with misfits is Eubank and an alleged drugs cheat ….

The biggest selling point of professional and misfits boxing is controversy.

No it is not.
Yes it is, the major networks aren't interested, the events gaining the most interest are youtube guys that are fighting because they insult each others girlfriends on Twitter, and the heavyweight champion of the world is about to have a fight with a debutant in Saudi Arabia. It's a tragic state of affairs.
Behave. Boxing is a minority sport and always has been. The broadcasters will change, but the game will remain.
Boxing hasn’t always been a minority sport. 50 years ago it was one of the biggest sports in the world and the general public knew who the champions were.

Boxing is becoming more and more niche every year.

For me, up to four champions per division is by far the biggest problem.

Thinking about it, that might be why AJ-Wilder isn't in December as planned. Difficult to plan next year against Wilder when he doesn't have a broadcaster.

I wouldn’t say a zero threat, in terms of skill sets and career yes chalk and cheese but the issue with it for me is it waters down the pro game and gives people an option to earn more and easier money by having these circus act fights. Tommy Fury has earnt more money in two fights than most fighters earn in a lifetime. Once that easy money option is there it will be very hard to stick to a proper pro career. There was a guy who was on a reality show a few years ago who was a newly turned pro boxer, he now refers to himself as a “crossover fighter” and just seems to call out YouTubers etc. Maybe if this crossover thing wasn’t around he would’ve committed to the pro game properly.

It’s not in December as the Skills Challenge funding disappeared so they’re trying to find the next best option.

No, I meant, a fight in Vegas or London in December. My mistake, I didn't type it out properly.

If Ali was a kid today he'd have a social media channel with millions of followers. He was a great self-promoter.

The act of mouthing off at a press conference does not equal charisma. This is what we have today.

Boxing needs to look at these kids following YouTube boxers and find a way to on-board them. I know plenty of lads in their 20s who follow these fights. And they love the idea of being "in to boxing". They want to become casual fans of the sport rather than oblivious to it. But they don't know a way in. Promoters need to lead them by the hand into the sport.

This is a huge opportunity for someone. The hook is in these lads' mouths, they just need reeling in.

TV channels seem to think playing rap music between rounds and employing schoolboys with footballer haircuts as presenters is going to do the trick.

But the die-hards aren't much better. If you want our sport to flourish you've got to see this can be a gift.

From a purely selfish point of view, I hope PBC end up on DAZN. Would love their fights as part of my subscription. I'd even pay a little more for it next year.

Misfits is not the problem. YouTubers bashing each other in the ring is not the problem.

Boxing is the problem.

Too many titles, no real champions, everyone avoiding each other, too many fights failing to be made, poor fights as ppv main events that a few years back wouldn't have been accepted as a pov co-main. All the things that fans have been calling out for years is the problem.

But all we need is a year of the best fighters facing each regularly in great fights and the sport will be in a great position. Whether promoters and fighters care enough is another matter.
