An ordinary boxing match which the winner will likely have to face a mandated and probably decent opponent. Which is why it can be interesting. Not at all bothered about the belt but if you can have an interesting matchup where someone pays to get some scrap placed around their waist at the end then who cares?
1. I don't consider Charr/Pulev vs Bakole as an interesting matchup.
2. Moreover, I'm very skeptical that even this will happen. The winner will likely have to face a mandated opponent? I don't buy it. It's the WBA, everything is possible.
And those are your opinions

Of course. But not only mine. :TU:

You know pretty well that neither Charr nor Pulev are there.
It's time for Martin Bakole to face a really decent opponent.

And here's my first post... What's the problem?
joshj909 wrote: 19 Jan 2024, 08:52 First defence will be Bakole. Pulev vs Bakole is actually a reasonable fight, despite Pulev's age. Bakole should then be looking at a proper top 15 guy. It's a shame it would be another year before that happens.
Pulev at 43 would still probably be his best win on paper. If it gets that fight out of the way so he can then move onto a top 15 fight then so be it because he's not jumping at the chance to face any other legit opponents otherwise.

Probably, and that is a problem, Bakole's level of opposition. I have no problems , 30.5-years-old Martin Bakole has serious problems with his career. Fight with ancient Pulev does not solve any of these problems.
It's time for Martin Bakole to face a really decent opponent. Not "then", but now.

Mahmoud Charr's defense of the WBA 'regular' heavyweight title against Kubrat Pulev is now on for March 30 in Sofia, Bulgaria, at least according to Charr's promoter Erol Ceylan.

Meanwhile, the champ appears to be enjoying life in his home in Dubai and the WBA list the fight as on for March 24.

Pulev should be able to beat Charr based on what I've seen of both fighters. The winner here aside from getting the belt could very well legitimately be considered Top 20.

“I will be facing a very serious opponent who, like me, has a lot of experience,” Pulev said at today’s press conference in the Bulgarian capital.

Pulev’s manager, Ivaylo Gotsev, added: “This is the chance of my life and Kubrat’s life. I have been working as a promoter for 30 years and have always wanted to get to this world title fight in Sofia.”

Charr countered: “I am a fighter. I do not fight for money. I fight to leave a legacy. If you only fight for money, you are lost. Work hard and one day you will get everything you have dreamed of.”

The fact that the names Charr and Pulev still mean anything at all...we really need some new blood at Heavyweight

It kinda feels like the same 20 or 25 names have been floating around at Heavyweight for a LONG time now.

It's about time for Luis Ortiz and Charles Martin to be making a splash again ain't it?

Is this a vacant belt of did they just make charr world champ again?

Would be nice if they could make pulev vs huni, or somone for the vacant wba (it’s a joke but a nice trinket for a prospect)…

With a bag of cash Moses could get the youngest world champ record….. hahaha.

Due to a legal dispute the WBA reinstated Charr as their regular champion last August.

Worth the wait, canelo might have to reschedule his 2nd fight if the year because he can’t compete with this for the September ppv dates.

Pulev defeated Shevadzutskyi with UD in a boring fight, Pulev controlled the fight with his jab and didn't put any pressure on the 300lbs guy who was barely breathing. Charr came afterthe fight his hand looks bad, promised a fight with Pulev in a few months

I had it 117-111 Pulev as well, as mentioned above, not a classic and Pulev mostly picked away with the jab, he did bring the hooks and uppercuts later on but he didn't put much on his punches, Shevadzutskyi plodded forward but didn't let his hands go nearly enough, there were times when he targeted the body and he had success but then he'd totally neglect it again, he was a punching bag mostly, didn't take too many big shots clean but again came in obese and didn't have the engine to keep up with a washed Pulev

Kubrat may still be a bit if a beast but his team are scraping the bottom.

Charr and the wba represent the gutter end of boxing.
