lopsided ud for top rank womens a side, big surprise there. poor maiva hamadouch once had a 50-50 fight on a top rank card and then lost 100-89

who ya got here gents ?
I think Valdez is 2 weight divs and years past his best, but couldn't resist him getting a late stoppage @ 9/1 - Liam is fairly hittable...

good round, pretty close action, though valdez had the most notable effect by blooding willy's nose

Re: Oscar Valdez vs. Liam Wilson | ESPN - March 29, 2024
oscar valdez is very explosive, but often misses punches by miles. that type of inaccuracy and off timing is what seperates the upmost elites from very good fighters like him

2-0 Wilson, but Valdez is coming on now...

nice action! they are going at it in close. a lowish blow hurts valdez and ref brieffly stops it. valdez complained about another shot but ref ruled to fight on. valdez a bit shaky in that round from the body work, but still giving back plenty to wilson. really anyones fight still

valdez struggling with the size of Wilson @ 130

valdez backs off a bit in the 5th, circling and air jabbing a lot. slower round than before. again a body shot makes valdez react.

good 6th! valdez with big volleys of shots! punches himself out a bit and wilson comes back in the last minute

Don't like that stoppage, but Valdez deserved it.

He went for the finish and gave the ref a decision to make.
Think the ref made the wrong decision, but "seen 'em given"

one of those boarderline calls. wilson was hurt and under serious fire, though he was fighting back and a lot of the shots were wild and missing or only glancing. can understand a stoppage but i wouldnt have stopped it myself. for me one of those 'show me something liam' moments.

Re: Oscar Valdez vs. Liam Wilson | ESPN - March 29, 2024
btw when wilson turned southpaw i knew this would happen. in his southpaw stand his hands completely dropped and he was way too lazy defensively, not sure what was going on there
Re: Oscar Valdez vs. Liam Wilson | ESPN - March 29, 2024
Disappointed for Liam and glad he understands his errors. I was blaming his corner for the way he started fighting at Oscars range, but Liam took full responsibility. He has a long career ahead of him (maybe not if he keeps fighting these wars) but must learn, particularly against guys, when he has height and reach, not to fight at their range.
Well done to both fighters, nice scrap.

Exactly - Valdez tried to force the stoppage and got it.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑30 Mar 2024, 00:33 one of those boarderline calls. wilson was hurt and under serious fire, though he was fighting back and a lot of the shots were wild and missing or only glancing. can understand a stoppage but i wouldnt have stopped it myself
navarette at least as hurt vs wilson as wilson was here
Doubtless a bit lucky, but he's not the ref - he deserved it.

liam's left hook is his best weapon. he also landed good 45s earlier on, and bothered oscar with body shots more than any other type of shot. his jabs and straights arent nearly as potent, less accurate and more flicky.
not all taller guys will be most effective outside, it's a bit of a fallacy that exagerates the importance of reach. talls guys can especially be beasts with uppercuts in close. i think he's best in close or mid range, but he's just not quite at the same level as these guys - cracks a bit too easily
does he do the weight okay? very tall for 130 and he's fairly well built too, not some total stringbean. very respectable efforts vs nava and valdez,, but their likes will keep being too much in the end. lots of interesting fights for him at the level down however, would love to see more of a focus there
he's way better than your average 13-3 fighter

Not a huge fan of the stoppage either but Wilson wasnt throwing back until literally the ref stepped in, feel for Wilson I had him up, his workrate was trumping Valdez's accuracy imo, Wilson wasnt always accurate himself but he was aggressive and took the fight to Valdez, he just kept pushing out the punches and was getting through, he was fighting southpaw in the 7th when Valdez hurt him and opened him up, Valdez just kept throwing until the ref stepped in, tad early but you've got to throw back
