he came over to John Celebanski’s gym in Bradford to spar with the aforementioned Steve Garber (this was after their first fight, before the second) Steve suffered a badly cut lower lip after two rounds and curtailed the sparring. MIDDLEWEIGHT Frank Grant asked if he could do a few rounds with Fury. Fury most insulted that a mere Middleweight would dare spar with him went in heavy, the sparring was ‘heated’ to say the least and Frank absolutely battered Fury for two rounds.
In the changing room Fury starts muttering about ‘not being fit/thought he was sparring a heavy/wife had a ‘babby’ due/he’d had a long drive from Haslingden etc etc’ Grant told him to ‘shut his mouth’ (or similar) Fury makes some noise about ‘taking it outside’
You didn’t say that to Frank Grant.
Fury leaves the building Grant follows him outside stripped to the waist in the pouring rain and starts screaming at Fury to fight him, Fury gets in his van muttering about being knackered from the sparring, once again evoking his heavily pregnant wife and the impending ‘babby’, Grant kicks the van door tries to open it, Fury drives off

Joe Egan issued another video challenge stating he had the money backing of Misfits/KSI.
Big John's response now is he'd only consider the fight if KSI pays up the £200k bet to John from his fight with Tommy.
Why is there always some get out clause with the Furys?

Yeah the line that sticks with me from that Carl Froch challenge video is 'ill fight any man me........if it makes business sense.'

Egan v Fury would be an ok scrap, similar levels as pros, from what I recall, similar age.
I remember my old pal Ranald Graham, wrote Joe Egan's biography for him, he said he never stopped talking, and it was invariably unintelligble bollix, and that he repeated himself endlessly, so much, that most of the interviews were completely unusable.

Vastly different to Meldrick Taylor's then?

Interesting that a certain Fury obsessed BoxRec poster hasn't posted on this thread. I wonder why?

I’m far from a Froch fan but I’d be happy to see him box John Fury but ONLY on a winner takes all basis.
John Fury getting a lump of money for taking a kicking or more likely faking an injury is still a win for him.

Joe only had 4 pro fights, with a decade gap between fights 3 and 4. Lots more am experience though, beat Bruce Seldon in ams and was a national champ. I'd guess Joe would have battered John as young pros. No idea now, it's all a bit cringe watching pensioners beg a money fight.

Being serious, boxing is damn dangerous, and 60 year old, out of shape fellas should never be allowed anywhere near a ring.
Obviously Froch isn't taking it seriously but he could easily kill Fury in the ring.
As he said, Fury couldn't realistically hold his hands up for a round.
Just the exertion, let alone the emotional pressure of a fight could bring on something serious.
As a general rule of thumb the board doesn't give out licences, for the first time, or to relicense fighters after time out, after they are 35, for good reason.
Even the exceptions like Flintoff, who took it very seriously and got in great shape, was sensible enough never to consider a second fight.
Other elite athletes like James Cracknell, in an amateur fight with big gloves and a headguard soon found out what sort of sport this is.
Evander Holyfield, in great shape and who had trained was in a horrible and dangerous spectacle getting bashed up against a MMA fighter in a comeback.
I think deep down Fury is sensible enough to duck out of any proposed fights, but is a blowhard who lets his mouth run away from him.
Unfortunately in this dirty business promoters are keen for him to sound off on the top table as he puts bums on seats. In reality he should never be allowed near a press conference.

Agree 99% Coco
But this guy is putting “bums on seats”?
Which promotor/s ? What idiot would promote this?
100% agree Carl is along this for what it is … a pi$$ take.
Hope it don’t go on too much longer though. John Partridge’s “sense of business numbers in front of 93,000” don’t quite add up.

Unfortunately it would sell enough for a few quid, but Froch wouldn't lower himself, he would seriously hurt Fury, and Fury knows this
And I was talking about Fury being allowed to be interviewed for his sons fights
The hype puts bums on seats

Its irrelevant to this but they offered Ward the fight in the UK quite a few times.
