Marty Jakubowski , everyones 100 plus fight winning active boxer came very close to dying early in his career when he was stabbed at some carnival in I believe east st Louis Illinois.

Ron Lyle was stabbed whilst in the pen in the 60's and apparently had his death certificate signed by a doctor.

A broken pelvis bone, bone became 'septic' 1940, lost 1 yr. of his career smack bang in the middle of his peak and was predicted to never box again as well as walk with a permanent limp. Came back shot right up to No.1 again and stayed there till 1948.
