Yeah, I'd still favour Joyce, as I think he probably has more punch resistance left, Zhang can definitely Crack.

Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
well it's his career. almost no chance he retires on a win, few do. i think he'll look for at least 1 more cash out opportunity
Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
When the belts get split up after Usyk v Fury, he should Def get a shot as an opponent.
Deserves the chance to make retirement money

Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
retire please. The Zhang knockout was fúcking harrowing, time to stop rolling that dice.
Edit: unless he can cash out against Usyk. Which might actually be a fight both of them deserve.

Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
All that extra weight he was carrying definitely didn't do him any favours.
Let's face it I don't think he could do any worse than Ngannou did against AJ , maybe a marking time fight in Saudi and a nice fat cash out payday for the juggernaut, I think he deserves it .

He surely can’t have gone over the cliff that quickly, because of one fighter?
Not physically anyway.
I could understand that mentally he is fragile, now that his invincible chin has proven to be otherwise …. But that could be worked on?
This is all a bit David Price.

If David Price had Joe’s chin…..
Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
Wouldn't mind seeing a rematch with Dubs.

Absolutely awful matchup for huni I think… Joyce could just set a pace and wear on him and huni couldn’t don’t him… I see huni as B grade Parker in a lot of ways.

Back to 250 and fight Hrgovic, hoping to pressure him into another walkabout. If Joe loses that, retire.
If he wins and Fury loses to Usyk and turns down their rematch, Usyk-Joyce for his last fight. Win, lose or draw, that's a natural bookend for his career. Good end for Usyk too. Or should Fury win, Fury-Joyce instead.
I'd keep Joe away from AJ and Wilder. Despite his chin, he's one of the few you'd still fancy Wilder to land on, and though I believe he'd give a great account of himself versus AJ, I think he'd suffer a wince-inducing beating. Might even get to AJ late in spite of that, but it's an onerous matchup for him.
Parker and Dubois should be avoided because they'd end Joyce's career with no advancement for beating either again. I think it needs to be Hrgovic, Sanchez or Kabayel until Usyk and/or Fury become available. Anderson as a wildcard eliminator.

Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
Joyce has always been limited and doesn’t have the style to have a long career. Add to that he’s 38 and had two heavy stoppage defeats, I can’t see him getting any better.
Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
Cash out Vs Chisora or Whyte?
Face a name veteran in Pulev or Ortiz in one last hurrah?
Crossover fight against Wardley/Clarke winner?
Tough fight against Bakole or Kabayel?
Olympic revenge against a shot Yoka?
I don't think he's as shot as people think when you consider the lack of depth at the top of the division and how shot some of those look at the moment aswell.

None of those are cash outs, the opponents would earn more.joshj909 wrote: ↑19 Mar 2024, 10:35 Cash out Vs Chisora or Whyte?

Anything in Saudi would be the money generator
Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
Can't see anyone wanting to pay big money to put on a Joyce fight now or pay money to watch one. Maybe he could fight Lawrence Okolie ?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑18 Mar 2024, 14:10well it's his career. almost no chance he retires on a win, few do. i think he'll look for at least 1 more cash out opportunity

By that I mean get the biggest payday available and retire, win or lose. Can't imagine he'd be chosen as an opponent for anyone who's a bigger name.Coco wrote: ↑19 Mar 2024, 11:12None of those are cash outs, the opponents would earn more.joshj909 wrote: ↑19 Mar 2024, 10:35 Cash out Vs Chisora or Whyte?

Esp if he is regarded as damaged goods, AJ and Fury would def give him a shot, more so if they aren't fighting each other.
Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
domestic dust up with whyte would be watchable and earn decent $$ or rematch with dubois .
Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
Interesting question this.
If he wants the big cash out I think he has to go for either Hrgovic or Parker II.
Comes thru that then he gets his shot.
Always in entertaining fights even though I’m watching most of them behind the sofa.
Really like Joe. The Terminator guise though is creaking as he gets older. He can’t walk through walls anymore so needs a last hurrah.
Personally, I “hope” he does it. Think ship sailed 2 years ago and that is due to reticence on a certain Champion to bl00dy we’ll have a meaningful contest.

I think the stories of his demise are greatly exaggerated. He has lost to one person, has said there is no way he is retiring, was never in any danger against Ali despite catching overhand rights, and is one of the few people in the HW division who don't talk nonsense. I think he can still beat the likes of Whyte, Dubois, Parker and co.

Agreed. Zhang is just a nightmare for Joe since he has big power and Joe can't see the southpaw punches coming that Zhang can set up early.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑19 Mar 2024, 16:15 I think the stories of his demise are greatly exaggerated. Whyte, Dubois, Parker - I'd also pick Joyce to beat all of them.
I'd add Fury and Wilder to that list but very few would agree.
Joshua seems like a bad matchup for him. I think Hrgovic wouldn't be the best either. That Kabayel guy has a chance as he has better movement but perhaps just too small.

Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
I guess we will only know when he's in with a big puncher to see how he reacts. Sometimes losing takes something away from a fighter and they are never quite the same again, especially after heavy KO defeats.
Re: Where does Joe Joyce go now?
True enough. Once a chin has been 'dented' no matter how solid, its rarely the same. Could be wrong, of course. It's just the way it usually goes.Controversial wrote: ↑19 Mar 2024, 16:30 I guess we will only know when he's in with a big puncher to see how he reacts.
