Re: 5 v 5 card. Over rated?

It's a very good card, I think. The main event is unmissable and Hrgovic vs Dubois is a superb fight, too. I'm looking forward to this show.
Me too, can't wait. Can't decide on the main event. Head is telling me Bivol puts on a boxing masterclass (Usyk v Gaziev style) but the heart is saying huge noggin Artur beats him up gradually and stops him brutally in the later roundsbig lennox wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 04:51 It's a very good card, I think. I agree. I'm a fan of both but I just think that Artur has a bit of GGG about him and is insanely tough, fit and very, very heavy handed; and will win by late rounds stoppage.forcefraser wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 04:55Me too, can't wait. I can't get past what he did to Smith. He's stopped everyone. Bivol was poor against Richards and even Arthur, but looked amazing against Ramirez and Canelo
Common opponents? Smith Jr. Arthur comes out on top there
Who has the better resume? I'd say Arthur
I quite like the Matchroom vs Queensbury aspect. It is good natured and sporting and brings a bit of fun to proceedings. Far better than Haney vs Garcia with Haney's father saying he wants his son to kill his opponent and Garcia appearing not mentally well enough to be in the ring.a force wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 05:04 I don’t think it’s just that the fights are evenly matched I think it’s more that the styles should really gel & we get exciting fights with most of these.
I can’t imagine Ball - Ford been anything other than great.
Hutchinson & Sheeraz are exciting fighters.
The 2 heavyweight scraps will be entertaining.
I haven’t bought into the whole Eddie v Frank thing. I suppose I want Frank to win but that’s just because he’s got the Brits. I’d love to see Dubois, Ball & Sheeraz all win.
One thing is that both men, appear to be in absolutely incredible physical condition, and I think Bivol is a little tougher than given credit for.forcefraser wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 04:55Me too, can't wait. Which King card from the 90's was he talking about?forcefraser wrote: ↑18 Apr 2024, 05:50 This is a great card, no denying that, but is it being overated on the basis that it is simply much better than what we have become used to?
Hatman on YouTube did a video comparing this to the mighty Don King cards of the 90's. The line ups on those cards were incredible. 5 or 6 deep in world championship fights.
The 5 v 5 is good and a cracking main event, but it doesn't come close to some of those King cards
Jesus that is a bloody good card mate!!forcefraser wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 04:22Here's one. All world title fights I believeSeanBrennan wrote: ↑18 Apr 2024, 18:59what were some of those cards Fraser? Julio Cesar Chavez C VS Frankie Randall II
G. McCellan vs Julian Jackson II
Azumah Nelson vs Jesse James Leija
Terry Norris vs Simon Brown
Ricardo Lopez 36-0 fought an undefeated Kermin Guardia at 21-0
Plus Meldrick Taylor
Chavez looking to avenge his first defeat after going 90 -0 or something similar
He went through about 4 or 5. All amazing cardsjwfg wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 16:11Which King card from the 90's was he talking about?forcefraser wrote: ↑18 Apr 2024, 05:50 This is a great card, no denying that, but is it being overated on the basis that it is simply much better than what we have become used to?

Most of the King cards had a lot of title fights, but were filled with 80-20s.forcefraser wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 16:58He went through about 4 or 5. I'm going for a 6 fight accumulator for June 1st
Beterbiev
Zhang
Hrgovic
Ford
Sheeraz
Richards
The only fights I'm not that confident of is the first 5. Richards is nailed onjwfg wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 17:04Most of the King cards had a lot of title fights, but were filled with 80-20s.forcefraser wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 16:58He went through about 4 or 5. All amazing cards

Bet on them all individually, but please don't bet an acca.forcefraser wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 17:07The only fights I'm not that confident of is the first 5. I'm gonna clean those bookies out
I think the same about Sheeraz, Skeete schooled himforcefraser wrote: ↑20 Apr 2024, 05:11 I did a deep dive into some of these fighters and have done a complete U Turn on Sheeraz v Williams
I initially thought Sheeraz's jab and power would get him a stoppage here, but I doubt that now.
I know he may have improved since the fight, but watch the Skeete fight again. Skeete is no world beater, but he does move well and has skills. He was clearly winning the fight against Sheeraz through his movement and jab until he was illegally stopped on his knees.
Williams is a step up from Skeete in terms of movement and athleticism and could box Sheeraz to a shutout here.
Sheeraz has no depth to his record and this is a huge step up for him, if Williams is as good as I think he may be.
I also watched Ford again in a few fights. Barring one very poor performance, he also looks a step ahead of Ball. His last fight was impressive. Ball is tough, but Ford either beats him clear on points or Ball's corner pull him out late on.
Yes, that was a BBBofC robbery that one.Coco wrote: ↑20 Apr 2024, 06:29I think the same about Sheeraz, Skeete schooled himforcefraser wrote: ↑20 Apr 2024, 05:11 I did a deep dive into some of these fighters and have done a complete U Turn on Sheeraz v Williams

Ford's really tight at the weight, so that's enough for me not to bet a penny on that fight.forcefraser wrote: ↑19 Apr 2024, 17:14 Just checked the odds. The two biggest favourites with the bookies are Hrgovic and Sheeraz.
Zhang and Ford also favourites.
The only level odds are Beterbiev and Bivol, both at 10/11
Richards is favourite but it's the 3rd closest odds of the six
