Noakes 5-0, stronger and ripping body shots in. Mendy looks old but is still very tough.

Shut out for Noakes, career best performance there, showed as well as KO power he has a great engine and a good boxing brain, clear from the bell the plan was to target the body of Mendy and he was still doing it in the last round, his body punching won him the fight, it was where most of his shots were aimed, Mendy still insanely tough and durable, done a solid job of parrying and partially blocking a lot of Noakes work and he occasionally came back with the odd cheeky counter to keep Noakes aware, Mendy just couldn't keep up with him though, took the boy shots excellently, it was head shots that rocked him a couple of times, Noakes boxed disaplined , great display of educated pressure, never looked flustered or in trouble, a dominant win against a crafty boxer

Very impressive win for Noakes....and bags the EBU title
Mendy needed to draw on all his experience & fitness to compete and fair play to him.
Sam's continual body shots were excellent point scorers and probably helped subdue Yvan into the bargain.
Nice comparison from the commentary team noting the last British lightweight to hold the British, Commonwealth & European titles simultaneously was Dave Charnley...also from Kent coincidentally.
If Noakes can achieve the same success as Charnley, he will become an outstanding boxer.
