Tszyu never really perfomaned well against manterdorys and that. he always used to his best perfomances where media think hes going to lose or he has something to prove. this could be a advantage for the hatton fight.

He had a great chin, great movement and great stamina, no way Witter would have took him out and he fought hard for 12 rounds and was a very good boxer.... that looks like a points defeat for Witter.

A lot of people had him winning the 1st Harris fight and he must have been doing something to Magee as he finished with his eye practically closed.... Magee has never marked up like that before or after.....
Urkal hurt Tszyu? Urkal can't punch to save his life. Really, not at all. Never seen that fight so how did that happen?

How can that be better, Andreas Kotelnik has beat absolutely no quality opponent and considering the fact that Witter lost to the only world champion that he has ever faced, it looks like he would be hard pressed to beat an old champion because he has yet to beat anyone that even resembles a former champion!

Oktay has a lion heart. IMO he was fighting with a broken jaw most of the time.

Barry, we're saying it's a better match up than the Philips and Oliveira's that Hatton has fought. A hungry fighter with only one loss on pts to a fringe world class fighter for a belt that actually means something. He isn't gonna sit there and be pounded and will come to win (hopefully now i've said all this). Lets face it Junior was never going to walk straight into a world class fight after beating Ndou and with most other top fighters busy or not interested then I think this is a good fight.
Doesn't Kotelnik hold a fairly high rating with the WBA?

surprised you even debating witter with lirva you arent gonna get a balanced argument.

Great show last night at Equinox despite Eric not boxing though he was there. Brutal KO in the main event look out for the write up later on the BBN today.
Was really impressed with the show last night, can well recommmed it for a lads night out, its perfect. Fair few women there too, club afterwards and if you arent ringside (which you dont have to be for a good view) you can get the beers in too without missing the action.

Possible venue for a boxrec meet sometime, id recommend it. :TU:

p.s the ring card gals were form sophisticatz and were somink else, and a good larf, the corner men were spraying em with water at one point i thought it was gonna turn into a wet t shirt competition

I seem to recall it was late in the fight, and Urkal had Tszyu trapped on the ropes. Tszyu looked to be tiring at that point, and Urkal had him holding on grimly.

I don't think Tszyu sees Hatton as a non-threat though, but he's very confident of beating him.

glad you had a good night J.

Spoke to Erik last night, it was round 4 of the Jamie Hearn fight...

These small shows always have a good atmosphere, they are an evening out rather than just a boxing match!!!

Yeah, I thought it was 10th too. It does give some credence to the fact that Tszyu perhaps struggles with a very fast paced fight. I think there's do doubt that Hatton is able to maintain a higher paced fight than Kostya, especially at this stage. Of course, doesn't mean shit if Tszyu sparks him out.

Hatton struggled with the pace against Tackie though... dunno if that was bad preparation

Its a good match for Witter, although I am surprised that Witter is still defending the EBU title - I would have thought he would have vacated. Can't see the match capturing the public stateside, which is what he needs.

Not complaining of the quality of opponent, but its a strange match.

It's like Stu said, it's certainly not the kind of match that Witter would need at this point, because regardless of how impressively he might win, it will be pretty meaningless in most people's view! True there are not a lot of top fighters who have an open resume at the moment, but there still are a few, those are the fights that Witter should be fighting for instead of complaing about the fights that he just cannot get right now! Certainly a fight with a Jesse James Leija, or even a Vince Phillips would do a lot more for his career than facing Kotelnik!

Agree with that Barry, Even a Mike No Joke Stewart or Dorin Spivey would be a better match - even if it is easier.

thats stupid, it wouldnt of done any favour to witter ranking, the only way witter is going to get a title shot is to get to the number one postion and that means to keep defending the title. just like eastman.

Yes but Witter is already ranked in the top 3 is some organisations - this fight will not enhance that. So why not fight a US name in the states so the match can be drummed a bit more by the public.

He is defending the title, but defending against someone ranked lower than him in all organisations - it will not boost his ranking. It wasn't thanks to those title defences that Eastman got his position - if I remember, he was always in the top 3 after he fought Joppy. Haakar losing got him the mandatory - nothing else.

I think its commendable he wants to keep the european title and not go for a shitty fringe belt. If he keeps making Euro defences he'll go up in the WBC rankings. I dont see who else there is he can fight to boost his rankings any other way. The 'names' mentioned are below him anyway pointless fighting those guys also then?
