Naz timed it well - Fury at this stage regardless of the Usyk rematch left it too late.

Naz did it perfectly. He built the hype beating the lower opposition, and when stepping up and getting found out he quickly retired leaving a legacy that has only gained further hype.

If Fury and Wilder had both retired after their 3rd fight I have little doubt both would be in the top 5 .. if not higher for Fury, of the ATG lists.

However Wilder has been brutally exposed and won't make the top 30 ATG lists, And Fury at this stage at best scrapes into that top 30 list.

wilder's resume is atrocious for a long reigning champ, no way he would be top 5. ffs bermane stiverne and dom breazele are among the top 3 guys he beat.

del chisora would have his way with pretty much everyone wilder has beat. i think ppl who put wilder high on a historical list need to think much harder about the quality of his resume and not jsut be so in awe with the quantity of knockover jobs

The point I tried to make, and some here clearly not understanding, is that if Wilder and Fury both retired after their 3rd fight when their quality was based more on opinion than facts, then they would have made a lot of peoples top 5 ATG list.

I used Naz as an example of how a very good fighter got found out as not being a great fighter when he stepped up.
Naz didn't step it up again, and quickly retired. And his legacy just grew bigger - to where we are now where people often describe him as a great.

Wilder and Furys legacy would have just grew and grew. Instead its diminishing rapidly to the point where Wilder is dismissed as trash, and most now arguing Frank Bruno is rated higher than Fury in the British ATG ranking

Yes that was concerning me too. While I wouldn't expect him to be peaking this far out, I certainly didn't expect him to be looking like that.
A guy looking to avenge his first loss doesn't take his foot off the gas.
