I wouldn’t have thought so. What autistic person would do a ring walk.
The reigning World's Strongest Man Tom Stoltman is autistic, he does ring entrances in large arenas etc. Autistic people learn coping and managing strategies, as well as their own personal development to facilitate coping in different situations. Also autism is a wide spectrum.
In answer I've no idea though.
yeah i showed the lad stoltman.

Well, he’s not exactly Noel Coward in interviews, but then his job is to punch people in the head so I don’t suppose it matters.
I actually like that about him. You can tell he's not into the media stuff at all, doesn't try to hide it. Good on him. There's too much media in the sport these days anyway.
Social media is overbearing sometimes .

I highly doubt he's autistic but he definitely seems like he has some learning difficulties. Seems slow, distracted and not the brightest. Joyce on the other hand just doesn't seem witty or confident but he doesn't come off as stupid.
I would go with this rather than autistic

It's probably more his upbringing. Cult like.
He could or could not be on the spectrum, but Mickey is correct here.
His social development is decades behind where it typically would be due to his childhood of being home schooled and not developing the skills that you would pick up in that school environment
Add to that his lack of exposure to popular culture, he doesn’t have the information to make funny jokes/ trash talk etc, that click bait social media wants.
If this was 1980s we probably wouldn’t notice it too much. But as posters above have mentioned the in your face media of today really exposes those who aren’t naturally extrovert.
None of the above is intended to be a criticism of Daniel who was always a super nice, but quiet guy when I used to see him regularly at the Peacock.
He like all of us is a product of his environment. To make it to the top of an individual sport takes a hell of a lot of sacrifice. RJJ and Mike Tyson (post moving to the Catskills) had a similar upbringing.
I imagine most elite tennis players are the same.

Wouldn't suprise me, most fighters have a bit missing and the better fighters usually have a mind quite apart from the normal fella
My old coach said to me over 50 years ago , he said , If you were to cut open , and look inside top boxers , you would always find something different in there than the rest of us , Don't know what but it would be there he said , think he was meaning what you just said . And your correct , the better ones just do seem to have something a little different
Another pearl of wisdom he sprouted to us has kids was, has you go on in life you'll find a lot of people are assholes so when dealing with them , just remember a good left hook is a great equalizer ,

His dad, a single parent, is eccentric to say the least. Daniel apparently could do thousands of press ups at seven years old, and did so daily.

Apparently he broke the world record for press ups for a 5 year old if the press is to be believed.

All this autism spectrum stuff didn't exist in the 70s and 80s. I never knew any kids my age that seemed different to any other.
I tend to think we may have created the way we are by all the chemicals we are knowingly and unknowingly putting in our body. The way food is processed and the crap that's spread onto fields and crops.

I tend to think the govt are to blame , well at least the Australian govt , don't know about the english govt ,,
WHY would be a reasonable question to ask me .
Because a few years ago it was ADD , Adhd , and now Austism , which encourage mainly single mothers to go doctor shopping , get there kids diagnosed and then get extra benefits ,,

Isn’t that just called medical progress, people had all sorts of illnesses and conditions that were undiagnosed and often died of them until medical science caught up and made those conditions treatable. I think sometimes people are quick to blame bad behaviour on ADHD and alike but there are extremes when it comes to autism.

Autism has been identified for a very long time. Its been diagnosed as different things - from the middle ages as witches; from middle of last century as dementia, to today as a neurodevelopment disorder.
its not a new thing at all - it just didn`t have a set of diagnostic criteria until fairly recently and then the big surge of diagnosis came in the 90`s on.
Bit like ADHD. Its always been there.

first autism diagnosis was 1943, and it's not like it just suddenly existed then. it woulda existed well before and simply been formalized later

Exactly right, yes he’s just a bit shy & awkward, when you see him talking in a relaxed setting he’s a perfectly okay kid. Yeah as you mentioned tennis Andy Murray was a bit the same to start with, and so was Warren 40 years ago believe it or not, though he’s completely shaken that now and doesn’t give a f**k
Must’ve been quite odd getting homeschooled by such an eccentric character as Daniel‘s dad seems to be ..but my God he certainly installed something in his son and turned him into a worldbeater

But it seems that his single-minded father often fell out with the coaching staff there.
Daniel once said: “We changed gyms so often because the coaches didn’t seem to get along with my dad.”
now there's a coincidence!!!

I couldn't disagree more with this MasterG!
It has always existed... it just didn't have a label.
We all knew the kid with a short attention span (ADHD) or the shy kid (Social Anxiety) and so on.....
I think the biggest issue is that these labels are now over diagnosed and clung to, everyone seems to need an excuse for who they are.

Yeah with you in that frostie
Definitely had a boy in my school who had autism ( this was late 80s/early 90s )
Of course at the time we just accepted that he was a bit different but had no idea why.
I do however think chemicals/prolonged screen time can possibly worsen / create issues.

He looks fine in that pre fight clip where he says to AJ 'you cant intimidate me' and then 'who do you think you are'. In fact it looked like he completely spooked self styled street thug AJ.
Id say DDD is more a case of still rivers run deep. He's learned a lot of stuff the hard way in his career and it seems to have hardened him into rock.

no wonder he is so unbelievably strong then. maybe its childhood trauma I'm seeing then. It actually rewires the brain to exhibit similar traits to autism. seriously, google the image of a trauma informed brain and it looks like a face frowning.

no its always existed. its just it dodnt have a label and people living with it were kept out of the public eye. ADHD is very very real to (tho over diagnosed imo. it doesnt help that parents can get a private diagnosis now if they pay)

correct. and parents can now pay privately for a diagnosis which leads to more cases.
