The People's Pound For Pound
Re: The People's Pound For Pound
Hmmmm interesting, Amada loses but moves up to #1 and Usyk also climbs one place.

Re: The People's Pound For Pound
I'm liking the people's P4P overall but surprised most lists have Canelo over Bivol when Bivol clearly beat Canelo in their matchup. I get that Canelp moved up a weight class to face him but if I remember correctly most people picked Canelo to beat Bivol and that never happened. Bivol should be at least 1 spot ahead of Canelo in my opinion.
Re: The People's Pound For Pound
2 questions
1. If we voted previously, but miss the following vote, is our p4p list no longer considered?
2. Has the number of voters changed significantly (up or down) from week to week since you've started this?
Re: The People's Pound For Pound
No, you have to click the vote button each week, otherwise stale votes from the past would just accumulate.
1st week there were 600 since then it's been around 500.
voting open

Re: The People's Pound For Pound
Cinnamon over Bivol? Come on guys, maybe 6 years ago, maybe, but not now.
He was totally schooled by Bivol, knew it and was happy to see out the rounds.
Beaten without doubt in first GGG fight, arguably in the 2nd fight as well.
Lara perhaps should have got the nod against him and although young at the time, Floyd schooled him big time.
Bivol is another level. Just look what the guy did to Zurdo. What an under rated performance that is. His only loss, which was disputed by many, was to an absolute monster who would tear Canelo to pieces right now.
Canelo has had a great career, but he's had loads of easy rides of late and avoided Benevidez no matter what he says
Great fighter, but better pound for pound than Biviol at the end of 2024??? Come on fellas, thats just not correct

Alvarez' record is leagues above Bivol's and no, the former's wins don't somehow magically count as losses because you don't like him or whatever.
Also, fornicate reddit spacing. Just write in normal paragraphs ffs. Your post is bullshit anyway, just make it concise bullshit.

You know less than I shat out years ago. Many Pacman has a better resumé than Bivol and Canelo, maybe we should put him above both of them?
We talking December 2024 pound for pound, not pound for pound over the past 10 years, you clueless wankstain.
How you like that spacing?
Working out for ya??
Re: The People's Pound For Pound
You have to consider that bivol is fighting in his first (and only) weight class. While 175 was canelo's SIXTH weight class. Where he gives up every conceivable physical advantage. Therefore, the difference in competition (and risk) is magnitudes greater.forcefraser wrote: ↑12 Dec 2024, 12:22 Cinnamon over Bivol? Come on guys, maybe 6 years ago, maybe, but not now.

To put it in perspective, you have to keep in mind that canelo is literally HALF AN INCH taller than loma. With 20 years and over 500 rounds of wear and tear on his body. And he should be fighting nowhere near these weight classes.
On the other hand, the reality is that for the entirety of his career, bivol has accomplished ONE belt in ONE weight class. And just because he beat canelo in their fight does not make him a 'better' fighter. The same way that beating mike tyson did not make buster douglass a 'better' fighter than mike.
The only way bivol would be able to truly separate himself from canelo would be for him to move up in weight. And put himself in the kinds of physical disadvantages that canelo fights under. Let's see bivol go fight world class guys, who are naturally heavier and have half a foot of height and reach advantage over him. And then we'll see how good bivol truly is.
Let's see him fight opetaia at cruiser. Or let's see him fight ANY top 10 heavyweight. Let's see how he can fight when he loses speed and stamina (from all the extra weight). And under those conditions, let's see how he handles the punches coming from much bigger guys.
And if you think canelo has had some sort of 'easy rides', I recommend that you take a look at the vegas odds for the opponents that bivol has fought in the last 5 years. And aside from the beterbiev fight, you will see that his level of competition has been laughably weak.
Even in his fight against zurdo, that you say was 'so underrated', zurdo was the underdog by roughly the same amount that amir khan was against canelo. And NOBODY gave canelo credit for that fight. Not even his own fans.

Tank Davis off my P4P list
A few days after Tank Davis's fight against Roach, I dropped Davis to number 10 on my P4P list. This week, I reviewed the fight again, this time scoring it round by round. I give Roach a score of 116-112, not even considering the knockdown. In my opinion, that's reason enough to eliminate Tank from any P4P.

I didn’t realise you had to click “vote” I had just figured at the end of the time it would automatically consider your rankings… probably a few making this mistake.

Argument
I see Tank Davis's name is still on "The People's Pound for Pound." I'm curious to know what the boxrec users' arguments are for keeping Davis on the list.
Re: Argument
i keep ranking him near the bottom of the list because i don't even consider him a top 20 p4p fighter. then when i check the page again it shows my ratings with tank in the top 20. there is some bullshit going on.felinoboxing wrote: ↑03 Apr 2025, 00:33 I see Tank Davis's name is still on "The People's Pound for Pound." Why isnt Terrence Crawford on the list of P4P ? I find that really strange.

He'll be back win or lose most like after the Canelo fight. If it's even a close, competitive loss he would re-enter the P4P list. Obviously if it's a win he returns with a vengeance.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑25 Aug 2025, 13:09hasnt fought for over a year, boxrec lists guys as inactive and removes them from rankings at that point

How can the algorithm still have Nakatani above Crawford… that is Mabey the clearest demonstration of a struggling algorithm I can imagine…
Re: The People's Pound For Pound
I don't agree Bivol is a better fighter overall in their careers. He's a better Light Heavyweight certainly. Because he's always been one. He'd rank higher on the P4P list at the moment though obviously. He's coming off his biggest win, while Canelo is coming off an embarrassing loss. I suspect Bivol still has more in his tank, while Canelo's tank is running on empty.forcefraser wrote: ↑14 Sep 2025, 06:30Can we now agree that Canelo is massively overrated and that Bivol is a better fighter?lastrefx wrote: ↑19 Dec 2024, 07:06You have to consider that bivol is fighting in his first (and only) weight class. Canelo started young, he is a great fighter for sure. Hes probably done now, no shame in that
Re: The People's Pound For Pound
None at all - HOF, P4P for 10 years or more, magnificent career, but NOW.... ?
He's nowhere near the best 10 fighters in the world.
He's nowhere near the best 10 fighters in the world.
Re: The People's Pound For Pound
I would still give him Top 10 in the world for the time being. He wasn't just embarrassed by Terence Crawford. It was a close, competitive fight.
He's never truly been embarrassed in the ring. He's lost sure, everyone loses if you fight enough, but he's never been humiliated in there.
