I never understood what people saw in Whittaker at all, the media outlets well over hyped him and the comparisons with Naz were silly, he just dances around like a nob against low level guys. Naz put world level fighters on the moon.forcefraser wrote: ↑13 Oct 2024, 07:19 Clearly the past couple of weeks have been tough for old Benny Shalom. Bullied and excluded at every turn by the big dogs, threatened with kickings and generally scragged around like a fully fledged left back for ragged arsed rovers
Last night must have been a hard pill to swallow. Firstly, the nailed on superstar, the future of boxing, the new future people`s champion Ben Whittaker was exposed for what he is, a feather fisted novice best suited to the amateurs. He was found out big time last night, smashed up by Cameron, taken deep and then feigned a way out through a dodgy injury. He was getting sparked out in the next round or two and everyone knows it. That is a big investment down the shitter for Shalom
Still dont get why people were so high on Whittaker. No pop on the punches is always a massive worry and showboating against guys 5 levels below is not what makes a future superstar. They have a very tough rebuild with this lad. He may not want it after last night
Then big Fraze gets iced in a round. Nasty. Two of his big hopes done badly.
I dont mind the guy actually, he`s what he is, but at least his ego is somewhat in check compared to the others. This night has done some damage though, no doubt about it.

Surely the only fight that Whittaker can take next is the rematchforcefraser wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 16:37 The more I think about it the more gutted I am for poor Liam Cameron.
Robbed of the chance of an epic victory and maybe the chance to make some proper coin in his next fight? Who knows.
It's virtually unanimous that people thought he was on his way to beating and likely stopping the most overhyped prospect in world boxing.
That was taken away from him.
No chance he gets the rematch.
Even Shalom and Sky couldn’t engage cheerleader mode if he were just fighting another tin can and Whittaker’s bragging and ring antics would have a very hollow feel to them if he hadn’t restored some credibility first by giving Liam the rematch

whittaker looking like anthony ogogo 2.0 atm, maybe he can produce better, but that's now a few times he hasnt impressed at all. first real tough fight and he seemed to bale too, not a good sign of his resilience and we already know he's not a puncher

The likes of Shalom can overcome these types of setbacks. That's why we've heard of them. Boxing's a mad business after all.

Ogogo genuinely had a career ending eye injury in the fight he lost. I think he’s blind now in one eye. Whittaker had a sprained ankle and poorly neck.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 22:11 whittaker looking like anthony ogogo 2.0 atm, maybe he can produce better, but that's now a few times he hasnt impressed at all. first real tough fight and he seemed to bale too, not a good sign of his resilience and we already know he's not a puncher

It will mean BetFred have their name on Boxxer press releases, fight posters, press conference back boards and the toblerones that surround the ring. I’d imagine it’d replacing another gambling company rather than being a brand new revenue stream.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑15 Oct 2024, 18:23Yup but it’s a weird arrangement. Re: Shalom must feel like a rubbing rag right now
Shalom did an interview with The Stomping Ground that was released today. It was initially c.50 minutes but was then replaced by a c.40 minute version with a part on Whittaker/Cameron being taken out. The funniest part removed from it was him saying Whittaker would need a warm up fight before fighting Cameron again.
A while it was taken down again and replaced by a shorter version with another part taken out. This time a section was removed where he seemed to accuse Wardley of using dodgy gloves. He said the surgeon told him that normal boxing gloves couldn’t inflict that injury on someone I.E. the dent in Frazer’s jaw.
My opinion on Shalom is that he’s a bit wet, lacks the charisma needed to be a top promoter and has played the game poorly.
Last week they got IFL not to release an interview with Eubank Jr where he said he wasn’t told of the £5m offer to fight Sheeraz.
He’s said from the start that it shouldn’t be about the promoters and it should be about the fighters. That’s fine and admirable but he then insists on getting his face seen on the head to heads and sends contracts to Queensbury on fight week to force that to happen.
He’s coming across naive to me. He was messed around a bit in Saudi but he then caused problems and it won’t surprise me if it will reduce the opportunities for his fighters going forward on Saudi shows. FW is the lead promoter, Spencer Brown gets on great with Frank and both are getting on well with Eddie. Shalom’s had issues with Frank and Eddie at the last 2 Riyadh Season weigh ins and they may just squeeze him out.

I was talking to a trainer the other day who said the Fly equipment (Wardley's glove make) was the best he'd ever used. Especially the pads.
Re: Shalom must feel like a rubbing rag right now
At the moment apart from Eubank Boxxer don't bring anything to the Saudi table, especially after last weekend and I'm sure Eubank will jump ship if he can earn more in Saudimaverick23 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2024, 14:08 Shalom did an interview with The Stomping Ground that was released today. Yes I guess so. I’m just confused they Sky would allow advertising all over their production when all the money goes to Shalom.maverick23 wrote: ↑16 Oct 2024, 13:47It will mean BetFred have their name on Boxxer press releases, fight posters, press conference back boards and the toblerones that surround the ring. It will be part of the contract that they have the right to show advertising in agreed areas, as they own the event.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑16 Oct 2024, 16:20Yes I guess so. It’s the same for all sports in that the tv company won’t get any of advertising revenue of the stuff during the sport. They will take 100% of idents (like pushing Sky Bet) and 30 second ads.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑16 Oct 2024, 16:20Yes I guess so. Shows his naïveté and it makes it even easier for the others to show his inexperience.
