RJJ all day and twice on Sundays.... Beter is all power and good on him but faced with Roy's skills, only one winner...if Callum Johnson can put Beterbiev on his arse with a punch he could see coming...how is he going to deal with Roy...
i mean lots of fighters are dropped and then go on to beat much higher level fighters than the guys who dropped them. if cooper can drop ali heavily on his arse with 1 shot then surely liston, foreman, frazier, and all those greats ali beat shouldve beaten him easily. plus bert is not all power, he has a very good jab and is sharp with all his shots. he was an excellent amateur even without being able to stop everyone.
i do think roy is just far too quick though, id think he would win prob around 117-111. maybe bert steadies him a few times but not nearly enough to turn the fight
now, if we are talking roy from tarver , that is closer

Yeah I get that re being dropped so that is fair enough...I just don't think power alone would have beaten Roy in his prime

RJJ avoided a Hopkins rematch along with the Dariusz Michalczewski fight at Light Heavy to unify the titles. Hardly the actions of someone deserving to be called The Goat.
More like Michalczewski avoided Roy. And Hopkins was 2 divisions below Roy, unwilling to move up to meet him.
Chicken Roy...bok bok bok! Avoided Dariusz like the plague.
You're not going to convince me that Roy avoided Dariusz, nor that you even believe that he did. So the only other reason I can think of for why you would claim this is because you're a racist. Because there's no way in the world that you're stupid enough to think that Roy Jones Jr. is afraid of Dariusz Michalzewski. You're not THAT dumb, and neither is anyone else.

No I believe it. Roy was chicken and that's why his demands were so outrageous that he knew Dariusz wouldn't accept them. He had his chance to unify at Light Heavyweight and chickened out. Dariusz had the style to give him a lot of problems and he knew it, the same way Glen Johnson did. A come forward swarmer but with power.
As for calling me a racist you can go f
uck yourself. I was a fan of many black boxers over the years so stick your racist rhetoric up your ass! I'm sorry you're butthurt that not everyone is an RJJ apologist and ass kisser like you.

I really doubt that RJJ ducked someone. Look at his resume, he fought lots of top fighters even after his physical prime declined. RJJ is the epitome of the true warrior. I have him above Tyson, FMJ, Whitaker and B Hop.

Beterbiev isn't any different from any other big puncher in some ways.
Technically or stylewise, he's relatively easy to figure out, most of them are because they telegraph almost everything they do.
You just got to be super physically fit in every way, you do that and can execute the other end then you'll do ok, but you got to be able to take some serious shots.
Forget being in it for 8-10 rounds and rallying the rest out, don't work like that with power punchers like Beterbiev, he'll have you rocking in 25 seconds if he catches you right, gotta be on your game from the first bell to the last, doubt you'll stop him unless you rob him or he gets old overnight.

beterbiev has a much better jab than your typical puncher. some fights hes gotten reckless and wild but when he wants to box he can do it well. a good case to look at is how he boxed callum johnson prior to being dropped and how he boxed after when he respected the threat. at his best he is more a ggg boxer puncher than just a slugger.
that said i think hes just not quick enough for a prime rj, wouldnt be able to get to him enough, would get potshotted.
jones could keep landing single left hooks or lead right hands, move, and repeat for wide decision i think.
roy from tarver 1 would be the most intereting version of roy to match with bert

His jab is effective because he believes in his chin and can just walk on in there.
Bivol never clipped him big once the entire fight.

Beterbiev isn’t just a big puncher. He’s a very good boxer too.
The fight with Bivol was never puncher vs boxer.
Beterbiev is in the list of those who have solid power and is an excellent boxer.
Same group as GGG.
Due to his KO’s and power, people forgot he was a very skilled boxer too with an excellent jab.

Beterbiev is really good, but the only orthodox fighter to puzzle RJJ some during his prime was Griffin. Jones had him down twice in 9 rounds in the first fight, lost by DQ, but the scorecards were close. Crushed him in 1 in the rematch. Beterbiev is leagues above Griffin.
Besides that, Jones was down (flash KD) vs Del Valle, took a while to figure out Harmon and struggled mightily against Tarver. All of them were southpaws.
Could Beterbiev pull a MAB vs Hamed kind of performance vs RJJ? Really unsure, but if he does RJJ doesn't see the final bell.
But Beterbiev was puzzled at times by Bivol's speed, timing and movement, prime RJJ could possibly daze him.

Bet. It would be relatively easy.
Jones is not in his league.

Indeed he is a very good boxer with top notch fundamentals and very disciplined. Hard to be beaten by any former top lhw in a prime vs prime fight.

I've been watching Boxing for over 40 years, for my money RJJ is the best fighter in all that time, at his best he was basically unbeatable, he really is one of the GOATs

What’s strange bout RJJ is he weighed 193 for the HW bout. But entered the ring around 198.
Don’t believe he ever weighed over 200

Especially after Bivol boxed a "close but clear" UD (not given)>
Albeit that wasn't prime Bert, prime RJJ obvs better than Bivol.

Y’All musta forgot. RJJ BY however he wanted to. FFS, AT WORST Bivol vs Beterbiev was a draw. Bivol clearly won a close, competitive fight… for whatever reason, the $$$ wanted Beterbiev to stay undefeated. Bivol too skillful for his own good.

I can't believe there are people who believe AB would be a chance against a prime RJJ.
AB is elite, yes. But RJJ in his prime was out of this world. RJJ by stoppage, rounds 6-9.

Roy by decision. Too quick and elusive in his prime. No way he stops Beterbiev though.

It's not unusual for a heavyweight to get in the ring at a higher weight than he weighed-in at. Larry Holmes would put on 4 pounds according to Eddie Futch.
