I hope Dazn get a channel on sky back. Much preferred watching it on my big tv compared to my iPad.
Are you unable to watch it via the app on your tv?jameswilson wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 11:59 I hope Dazn get a channel on sky back. Much preferred watching it on my big tv compared to my iPad.
if you have a smart tv, it will have the app. Or if you have any stick or anything with apps. you can download on therejameswilson wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 11:59 I hope Dazn get a channel on sky back. Much preferred watching it on my big tv compared to my iPad.
I totally agree. Especially the Saudi conjecture.tony1234 wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 12:17 Apart from the hardcore people watched boxing on SKY or TNT as they already paid for it for football etc, now having to pay another 20 quid a month for something you don't know what you're paying for can see many not bothering.

It doesn't look like a deal has been done (yet), but ongoing talks with what would appear to be multiple investorsmaverick23 wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 05:32
Apparently the Saudis already have equity in it. Can only see it increasing.
DAZN valuing itself at $10-12bn is mental. It loses $1bn+ per year.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 17:33

They don’t look after their existing customers.handsofstone wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 03:23 Simon Jordan was saying yesterday that Sky are losing customers rapidly and might not even be able to afford Premier League rights next time
I’m not surprised. People are consuming far less traditional tv each year, there’s been a big rise in fire stick usage and people are struggling financially.handsofstone wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 03:23 Simon Jordan was saying yesterday that Sky are losing customers rapidly and might not even be able to afford Premier League rights next time
I’d heard Saudi have been invested for a little while hence their preference for DAZN over other broadcasters whilst they also had the rights to the Saudi football and other things too.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 17:33It doesn't look like a deal has been done (yet), but ongoing talks with what would appear to be multiple investorsmaverick23 wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 05:32

Although Facebook and Amazon weren’t secretly profitable. Just very long strategies for future profits that relied on scale.
With enough investment (petrodollar?) could DAZN buy up enough rights to ensure global sports fans would have to subscribe?
If we look at the UK alone, they would need to take Sky out the game and secure the majority of Premier League games.
I don’t think they’re bored with Newcastle. They’re just restricted due to the profit & sustainability rules. They were bidding close to £70m on Marc Guehi at the end of Augusttony1234 wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 12:17 Apart from the hardcore people watched boxing on SKY or TNT as they already paid for it for football etc, now having to pay another 20 quid a month for something you don't know what you're paying for can see many not bothering.

Nothing to do with any of those things. They are spreading their purchases over the length of the 7 year contract and putting the sales down as immediately income. It roughly works out as this:Coco wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 08:23Exactly thata force wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 05:55I don’t think they’re bored with Newcastle. Dunno how Chelsea are doing it though
They have been selling hotels and training grounds to sister companies, but I still can't see how the figures add up.
Maybe they have had more leeway because the government was desperate to get Roman out and Saudis are muslims

Think that's supposed to be beneficiaries isn't it?
Yh probably.. well fans are benefactors too aren’t they?
How the frig would it lose 1billion a year? I doubt it’s total outgoings get close to 1 billion a year ffs.johninmanchester wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 17:41DAZN valuing itself at $10-12bn is mental. It loses $1bn+ per year.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 17:33

DAZN is a global business. People tend to forget that. They have domestic football rights in several big markets (like in Italy they have the Seria A rights). I’d imagine their spend on boxing is dwarfed by their spend on football.jameswilson wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 14:51How the frig would it lose 1billion a year? Bidding and buying are 2 separate things, they haven't spent big like everybody predicted and for whatever reason a mid table PL team are no use to them hence the lack of activity.a force wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 05:55I don’t think they’re bored with Newcastle.
