yes, some people think he got mad overrated, and to be fair i think that tends to happen with guys who retire undefeated, but regardless there was a lot he was working with

showed plenty of chin and stamina vs tua. mixed it up between boxing and moving with a solid jab, and then going inside and more than holding his own trading in tua's favourite range. then showed intelligent aggresion and good accuracy for a slugger in taking apart slickster bryd. thats two very different opponents he boxed in different ways to get the wins. can easily picture him ragdolling wlad k and bombing through most of the late 90s/early 2000s contenders

sam peter was basically a welfare version of ike and still did okay for himself in that time. it's a shame ike was such a nutjob, a horrible guy who is lucky to be outta prison after permantly injuring his step son in a kidnapping and attempted murder, not even to get started on the sexual assaulting

Agreed. That improvised hook/uppercut he caught Byrd with was just an exceptional punch and Byrd had no idea what country he was in, as he was slurping and drooling while talking to the referee. It turned out to living in the Lewis era around that time but it might have actually been the Ibeabuchi era and we just didn't get to see the proof. Young Wlad would have struggled with Ike, who would have had more experience. We would have had to see a very aggressive strategy from Ike against Vitali which might have been much more difficult but it's a fight I would have loved to see.

A muscle bound 16.7 stone fighter who threw a then HW world record 975 punches over 12 rounds against Tua doesn't seem suspicious at all.

Obviously styles make fights, but it's worth remembering David Tua gave Ike a very rough ride over 12 rounds, whereas Lewis stood Tua on his head and was a class apart.

Yeah but if Lewis had stood and traded with Tua he would have been John Ruiz'd. Ibeabuchi was a freak of nature.

I don't see him losing to Morrison even at 50. It's the remnants of a seriously gifted heavyweight versus a tomato can with unearned name recognition.

Yep, Ike was a really tough so & so going toe to toe with Tua, but let's not forget Lewis rumbled with rock hard Ray Mercer for 10 rounds and squeezed a tight decision. Lewis wasn't anywhere near as fragile as some like to think.

Saw an interview with Ibeabuchi and Davaryll Williamson on YouTube discussing how they are planning to fight in a comeback for them both, the Copperbox is being touted as the venue. Would be very surprised if Ibeabuchi would get a visa for UK given his criminal record, let alone licensed to fight here. Williamson is even older I think. Probably Nigeria or elsewhere on the African continent would be where Ike would be allowed to fight these days.

That's quite a comedown for Ike.

He was initially talking about challenging for the title, now he's talking about fighting someone even older than himself!

It wouldn't surprise me if he announced a rematch with Tua!

Failing that, he should give Jake Paul a call and see if he can tempt Paul into fighting an opponent under 55 years of age.

You may have noticed True Crime is a massively popular genre. His menacing aura and the manner of his wins over Tua and Byrd probably help. From that perspective, the man has it all.

Hugely popular with Walter Mitty types with very little disposable income. He'll do good views on Youtube but nothing that involves people actually spending money from their wallets.

It's highly unlikely that Ibeabuchi ever fights again, whoever his backers are have to somehow engineer a big money fight because if he did a lowkey comeback fight then he will look every inch the 50+ year old man with more than 20 years of inactivity and the chances of earning significantly will disappear.

He can look as monstrous as he likes but when he comes to fight he will be a 50+ year old man with over 20 years of ring rust and will be beaten by anyone with a pulse…
