Some of the rankings have zero logic do they, proper bonkers. Is a lot of it driven by who has the random continental belts etc?
The WBA have always had the oddest names..

Is that guy who is about 105 still pursuing the court case to be mandatory at HW?

His facial scar tissue is a huge issue. It's going to open up quickly against good opposition. He has to literally go all out for an early finish imo or he is going to get opened up by the opponent. The longer the fight goes, the worse it is for wardley

Utterly embarrassing new alphabet rankings as usual.

Hysa, and now deontae pettigrew appears despite not having had any fights outside of d class.

Charr loses ro pulev but bribes his way to a number 7 ranking.

Mind boggling.

Anyway, I'm anxious to hear what Wardley and Bakole do next .....

I couldn't care less where he sits in the rankings, my love for Fabio Wardley is real. Whatever level he gets to in his career, I will salute him. A truly tough, game man.

One day it will be revealed that Fabio Wardley is, in fact, Lenny McLeans offspring.

I'm hoping Wardley's career goes better than the last bloke to stop Parker.

If this thread title referred to Usyk, I think he totally could! It's obviously unlikely, but for the first time I can see how it might happen. His uppercuts and big rights to the body against Parker impressed me, and he seems to thrive on his Nigel Benn reputation enough to roll the dice when others wouldn't.

He doesn't do much that other heavies can't do better, but most fall short of his courage to pull the trigger in moments of palpable risk. Dubois had the physical tools to really test Usyk but not the grit or belief, and likewise AJ's a superior boxer but hasn't been in Wardley's offensive ballpark since Ruiz caught him.

Wardley's chin and power are significantly greater than Usyk's, and there's so little doubt he'd be looking to trade from the first bell. Can Usyk discourage his offence with counters rendered fierce by frequency... Maybe. But he's not stopping Wardley early and he'll need extreme discipline on his bike, taking some pummelling shots on his arms and gloves to come through it.

Usyk's naturally still the big favourite, but all of a sudden Wardley's the more fascinating what-if over Kabayel, who it's quite easy to imagine losing a boxing match. If Chisora's tank hadn't emptied so early he might've given us a Usyk-Wardley preview.

I'd pick Usyk widish on the cards or by late TKO, but now believe Wardley could make it his most uncomfortable fight since Briedis. It's such an easy matchup for him technically, but could well be his toughest physically. He'll be 39.

I like Wardley, he'll never be in a boring fight because when he's hurt he swings for the fences.

Rather limited though, if not for Howard Foster that would've been a fairly typical win for Parker. I think Usyk would win every round vs Wardley without getting out first or second gear.

It would probably have been a draw looking at the cards.

I think Parker was starting to come apart at the time of the stoppage, dabbing at the cut and not firing much back, I don't think it would have gone the full 12

usyk never been down, and taken some big shots from some top big lumps. surely aj and dubois hits harder than anyone wardley has been in with.

on what basis is wardley's chin significantly greater? do you think clarke or huni or parker woulda dropped usyk or something?

We've seen Usyk buzzed by Gassiev and the jury's still out on how well he takes bodyshots, whereas Wardley's walked through shots that would fell most. Like Joyce he can't do it for ever, but right now he's in his prime.

Usyk might be able to dance around him for 12 rounds, but Fab's one of the few guys who'd try to bully him, with an arsenal of good reasons to. For all their athletic gifts, AJ and Dubois were hesitant.

Like I say, I'd expect Usyk to win wide, but a bigger, stronger man willing to risk getting hit to unload doesn't sound like an easy night to me. Is his timing so good he could dissuade Wardley? Nobody's been able to yet, so we'd need to see his reactions at the highest level.

Outbox him for sure, but discourage him...

This thread has suddenly aged quite well, we can all look at it through diferent eyes now since Wardley dispatched Adeleye, Huni and Parker.

Wardley definitely still has the right mentality to get the most out of his abilities for sure. Every time he's been challenged, and stepped on the gas and went for it he's pulled it off. So he has every reason to believe he can continue to do that until someone proves him wrong.

That's a big reason why Wardley has become one of my favorite fighters. You can rest assured that even if he loses, he's going to shoot his shot, and try all that he can.

He's been guaranteed value so far, hasn't he. Usyk might break his spirit with a thousand cuts, but he's a deserving challenger.

3-5 years ago I felt the same way about Joyce, in that I believed several heavies might beat him, but none would find it easy. Resilience in common.

I don't think Usyk will break his spirit, but it could be a very discouraging night for him. I don't think Usyk is gonna be really much more dangerous than Parker from an offensive standpoint, the difficulty is gonna be in how much harder it is to land cleanly on Usyk.

Wardley is pretty quick handed for a Heavyweight though so I think he'll get through more than a lot of people would on Usyk.

One advantage Wardley has is his lack of schooling.

With well schooled boxers because they are taught well and are very technically correct, they can almost be predictable

With Wardley, they come from funny angles, it's the ones you don't see coming that hurt

Agree , Said in another post Wardley has this ameteur rough has guts thing happenning , he does the unsuspected , he does whats wrong and it works , sometimes a good boxer just can't work these things out , Usyks a good boxer but he seems to off spent a lifetime fighting good boxers not roughouse novices ,, then theres some things Fab does well , he rolls with a lot of punches , , turns onto angles and comes back , and when he hits he hits , Personaly i don't think Usyk will take it , i think he'll vacate .

Usyks punch placement and balance is way better than parkers.

Hey by the way. What was Usyk's recent injury that he was recovering from?
