It was a former boxer that shot Gary Hutch,

Edit: wait no James Quinn was the getaway driver, , he was the boxer, sentenced to 22 years and 90,000 Euro fine to Hutch family, gunman himself was never caught. I think Quinn had worked in the MGM/MTK gym alongside Hutch at some point, and they were even " friends"

But you reap what you sow, Gary had been involved in that kind of situation before only on the double crosser Kinahan gunmans side. Why do they never think it can happen to them?

I think lots of amateur boxing clubs kept folk on the straight and narrow, that is my experience.
The steroid body building gyms, kick boxing and MMA too tended to more dodgy.
Even boxing gyms with owners who were at it a bit kept their gyms right.

That sounds more like what I've seen. The white collar boys are pretty rife as well.

I spent a short time around white collar a few years before the pandemic (having discovered long before that I was not good enough to compete as a proper amateur) and yeah, whilst my gym seemed fine, a lot of others at the open sparring days were clearly dodgy. No All Saints, that's for sure

owner of the gym I went to had a lucrative "grow" in the adjoining building, yet the gym genuinely helped a lot of decent kids gain confidence and was a good place for them to meet other kids.
Funny old world...

Sometimes the line between ducking and diving and being at it is a bit of a grey area.
Obviously when you are proper at it is a different thing

Was it weed? That's forgivable because alcohol is more harmful, unfortunately is usually means you have to have contacts into dodgier stuff since you can't shift it legally. if he's selling hard drugs to fund the gym then it's good he keeps kids off the streets in his gym because they are what get more dangerous when that stuff is proliferated around. Keeping kids off the streets with the money you make proliferating things that make the streets and the people in them more desperate and dangerous is a bit of a conflict of interest

Too many gyms doing that now, back in the days youd be put out of the area at best.

The grassroots gyms just can't afford to stay open on the couple of quid a week they would charge , the ran everything mostly off their own cost, like Dockers ABC did, run by an ex olympian

You don't need to associate with particularly dodgy people to knock out a bit of weed. It's when you start dealing with coke dealers etc, it gets a bit more gnarly.

True, further back in places Belfast and the likes though you had to be careful because "drug dealer" is a broad term, and a fella was shot for having a weed farm once, because he was "identified as a drug dealer"

- Pat Barrett

- The Sims
- The Bowers
- John Dillon
- MTK crew
- Mark Quinn
- Bradley Welsh

And kickboxing has loads more as there is zero money in it.
I read a long academic paper on this years ago.

The conclusion was that combat sports recruit from exactly the same socio-economic pools that crime does

And that combat sports also attract people with a high degree of risk tolerance and a high degree of desperation /disregard for their own well being.

So basically a pool of poor but game risk-takers will produce fighters, gangsters and characters with a foot in both camps.

A London fighter named Lee Murray was one of the main subjects of the study. Currently banged up for a massive movie-level armed robbery.
Very interesting John. Is the academic paper publicly available or accessible via research licenses?

Lee, very interesting, currently in a Moroccan jail, homeland of his birth father.

Former Lee Beard protege Adrian Gonzalez was a big player recently done. Brett Flournoy murdered, Bobby Rimmer Jr, former amateur stand out Carl Wall was huge in the game. Loads more, some at a very high level connected to famous gyms and fighters.

Speaking of Gonzalez' , was it ever discovered what the actual motive for Alejandro Gonzalez Jr, a Frampton opponent no less, and his Grandfather found hogtied and murdered in the back of a van other than "some cartel drug thing"

Your father and son murdered, side by side, hogtied and naked. Yeah sign me right up to that life

He wasn't with them then, nice try though Mickey, showing your knowledge as usual

I do remember Carl's little heart breaking when Wayne McCullough said "Excuses Excuses" on twitter when Frampton blamed the bad performance on the canvas :OhYes: before that fight Wayne was Carl's inspiration, Carls favourite fighter, Carls role model

Not sure if he mentioned McCulloughs name again after that, does he mention him in his book at least? Ghostwritten by former MTK Chief Strategy Officer/ Propagandist Paul D Gibson, available in all fine book stores everywhere I'm sure (yes, seriously) :OhYes: :OhYes: :OhYes:

Carl is a hypocrite dirtbird for going with them and even his autobiography was ghostwritten by a former top man in the Kinahan Crime Syndicate , all about how out of order McGuigan was, but this fella, he was "very nice and people can make their own mind up"

He's a wee rat

I will always give friendly reminders of that, because I used to think he was a decent fella , a proper man of integrity, he's just another superficial flash dirtbird

I got into it with a McGuigan too because I don't like them, yes, an actual member of the McGuigan family, so don't tell me I'm giving Daniel too hard a time, I called out Barry McGuigan BEFORE CARL FFS :brick: :brick: :brick: :brick:

I'm gonna call a scummer a scummer, and I can put them both into the proper context.

Whereas you just love a few beers with them over there in Dubai eh Coco. It's not a gangster rant, it's holding Carl Frampton, who's career I know a lot more about than you guys I can assure you, to account, he says people like his honest punditry, he's an honest guy, he's a mental health advocate ( :brick: :brick: :OhYes: :KO: :OhYes: ) Called for integrated schools AND obviously approved of cross community integrated Drug Cartels too

I don't watch it much boxing live any more that's true,so my posts have been all recently been just about blatant corruption and gangsterism, which is a relevant and ever growing concern with boxing, but I've went for Saudi Arabia more than Kinahan cuz he's a busted flush, but Frampton will never forget he was a reward to Jamie Moore for being shot while standing beside a well known heroin dealer in Daniel Kinahan as long as I post about the truth (Dad recommended him to me aye 😂)

Saudi Arabian national anthems now   , bought and PAID for, that's the kind of trade British Patriots like Thatcher wanted, where nothing British is actually owned by anybody British, while the Union Flag was a sacred cloth etc.

Utter madness, beyond parody hypocrisy
