Pretty decent resume really, he got British, Commonwealth, and Euro . You would have to be fairly content with that as well as his amateur career.

JJ hanging around for Saudi money if he can get on a card . May as well get battered for a big pay day rather than retire .

It's hard to believe that this man KO'd Joe Parker not too long ago.

His decline has been dramatic to the point where he'd struggle to beat an egg now!

Even those light punchers have an effect when you get 10 rounds of being hit like last night

He has virtually no defence and is extremely slow now. Definitely time to retire and look after his health.

Joyce, Chisora, Wilder, Whyte and AJ would all be better off retiring.

i totally get that chisora is super recycled and taken loads of shots and many people are bored of him

but tbf.....in the last 3 years he's 4-1, with wins over joyce, pulev, wallin, and washington. that aint bad.

He also did better than Joshua (#1 scorecard)and Fury (#1 KD)against Uysk.

Like another poster has commented on Saudi money. It's hard to walk away if you can get on a bill over there.

I've never heard Joe talk about his academic life or how he spends time away from boxing. If he hasn't got anything to go to after boxing it could well be detrimental to his mental health, especially if you have lots of money on the hip and plenty of 'friends' around.

He doesn't come across as an intelligent business man who can choose his own direction in life, saying that I may be totally wrong.

Absolutely time to stop for Joyce, he isn’t getting any faster or more elusive with age…

Franik Warren to speak privately with Joe Joyce about his future

Frankie Warren will have a private discussion with heavyweight Joe Joyce regarding his future in the sport.

The 39-year-old Joyce suffered defeat again on Saturday, this time by unanimous decision to Filip Hrgovic at Manchester’s Co-op Live. Hrgovic, a late replacement for Dillian Whyte, was able to land heavy shots repeatedly on Joyce. In typical fashion, Joyce was able to absorb the punishment.

This was Joyce’s fourth loss in his last five contests, with two stoppage defeats to the hard hitting Zhilei Zhang in 2023, a 10th-round knockout victory over Kash Ali in March 2024, and a unanimous decision loss to the war-torn Derek Chisora last July.

Many called for Joyce to hang up his gloves after losing to the then-40-year-old Chisora, but Joyce decided to have another roll of the dice. Saturday’s contest represented a tough challenge, even with Hrgovic coming in on short notice, and Joyce failed again.

Again Joyce is hearing calls for his retirement after another display of defending power punches with his face. Joyce responded that he doesn’t need to retire yet.

But Warren, whose Queensberry Promotions represents Joyce, admitted it could be the end.

“I think he should sit down with his family, with his manager, his trainer, and he’s got to watch the fight back and then obviously make his decision,” Warren told BS. “I’ll have a chat with him as well, but I don’t want to go into that publicly. What I’ve got to say, I’ll say to him privately.

“He’s 39 years of age. He’s not any younger. He’s had a few losses in his last few fights. He’s a tough guy. He gives everything. You haven’t got to go looking for him. He’s in front of you. It was a close fight, in my opinion, on Saturday. I’m not complaining about the result, but it was a close fight. And there were moments in the fight where he was doing okay, but the heavyweight division is tough.

“It’s tough, and every fight he has, if he carries on, every fight he has, it’s going to be a tough fight. And they're going to be miles on the clock. There’s no doubt about it, but it’s all too soon for me to be saying anything. More importantly, what I have got to say, it’s best I say to him face to face.”

After Zhang II, I can't bring myself to watch him anymore.

anyone WHO HAS BEEN IN THAT RING AND CARRIED IT ON TO A LATER AGE wether , profesional , ametuer , or just showing up in the gym and putting rnds in , will tell you ,, That you get to an age , /stage , whatever you want to call it , where you know whats coming but are just too slow to block , slip or move out the way , You can see the openings but by the time you do anything about it , that openings gone , basicly your just too old for that level .

The ones who could protect boxers from themselves are the managers and promoters , a caring manager would say , look mate its time to give up i don't think we should carry on , a caring promoter could just not put him on the bill .. problem is it could be argued who are they to stop a gy earning a living .

Frank did an interview with IFL yesterday. Without saying it outright he, as I understood it, implied he thought Joe should call it a day. It was a good interview throughout. He also spoke about the Adelaye fight and made it clear that he believed the ref screwed up.

Anyone have punchstats for the Hrg fight?

This is a bit of a weird take after the hrg fight. his punch resistance was A+,, but he's speed and timing was similar to me borderline oversdosing on opioids.

Agreed , its hard to say a guy should give up his livelihood if he's not got the dollars in the bank , but if not retirement , he certainly could do with stepping down a level , then again would he , would it be worth it financially , Boxings such a cruel way to make a living , and he seems such a nice guy , i was his manager i would DEFINETLY be swaying him away from punchers

He should retire in my opinion, it’s easy to say his trainer, promoter, manager etc should advise him to but ultimately he can only make that choice. I heard him say it was only like a hard spa and the reason he fights is for the money, just hope he still has his marbles later in life to enjoy that money, so many fighters pay the price with CTE issues.

Promoters have the real power. If the top promoters think he should pack it in, what can he do realistically?
