He is quite wily but took big shots against Wlad and Joshua

But he hasn't taken too many clean big shots other than in those fights which are now 4 and 10 years ago. He might just crush mid-level cans like Charr once a year for a few more years without taking any risks.

I was anticipating a bigger name than Wallin but if he wins then maybe Whyte, Wilder, Okolie, Wardley, Ajagba, Bakole, Hunter, Hrgovic, Ruiz, Miller, loser of Zhang/Kabayel? All the guys looking for a big name win or a comeback win basically. If he loses then his stock will probably drop too much for some of those names.

Unfortunately Chisora will end up with severe CTE. The brain just isn’t designed to take the battering Derek has had. The Vitali fight alone must’ve taken years off his life. People have to be realistic about how dangerous a long boxing career is. As I said Tris Dixon’s book is worth reading. I can’t think of any other books that approach the topic of the dangers of boxing. It’s a taboo subject in many ways. I believe in the individual choosing their journey but I believe the average life expectancy of a pro boxer is significantly shorter than average

He has been on the slide for a few years, not enough to lose, but when he does, it will be to someone he could have absolutely mullered between 2017-2024 and that would be a shame. His legacy needs an unbeaten retirement.

Interesting. But yeah many fighters dirty their legacy by going on too long. But ultimately most ignore the latter losses. Sugar Ray Robinson and Joe Louis are legends even though they went on too long. I think Crawford has some fights left

Thing with Crawford, especially the last few years. He’s had too many gaps. Had he done the usual 2-3 fights a year, he could have beaten FMJ’s record too

I’d like to see a debutant retire at 1-0 and in the post fight interview say he always wanted to do what Mayweather and Calzaghe did and retire undefeated. Drop the mic walk out and never be seen of or heard of again.

Hopefully he retires sooner rather than later, as others have said it’s highly unlikely that he doesn’t already have quite a bit of irreversible damage. Still, Chisora must be one of the boxers that has maximised his talent the most, in terms of financial rewards he has probably earned the best outside of the world champions.

I actually wish they actually would put clauses like that into contracts between 2 guys at that stage of their careers. It'd be one of the few ways to get those kinda fights to sell I think.

Fair enough, seems a very nice bloke done some excellent anti bullying work over the years too. He used to fight in uk quite a lot early on iirc I remember watching him on random cards not sure if he was with Maloney or someone
