Re: Bryan Collins vs Will Harrison
I'm so proud of Willy tonight. When other gyms in York were winning titles all over the place Will trained on his own in a very unfashionable club (now defunct). He was a club fighter with a 50-50 record who fought on other people's shows. It also highlights how important training in a good set up means. He's almost unrecognisable since he joined Warringtons gym.
Re: Bryan Collins vs Will Harrison
Great win for Will that. Never stopped working but these fights for this level can easily catch up with a boxer.
That was worthy of a British title fight

Re: Bryan Collins vs Will Harrison
What an excellent scrap, I can't split them, 95-95, Harrison done the hurting, Collins the boxer, nightmare start accidental headclash cut the top of Collins head, bled bad but luckily it held up fine, Collins was boxing well first couple rounds until 3rd round, Harrison nailed clean with a huge left that hurt him, that rallied Harrison who kept walking him on to clean punches whether it was the left hook or the straight right, he wasn't wobbling Collins but they caught the eye, Collins boxed well in the rounds Harrison took his foot off the gas, Harrison got away with a lot of butting, heads came together all night, Harrison hurt Collins in the 10th and had him reeling, he was teeing off on him the last 20 seconds but couldn't put him away
I couldn't split them but Harrison probably looked the winner so fair play

When I said a few years ago the gyms here were thriving and everyone on here laughed, Will wasn't even in the top 20 kids I was thinking of. You'll see a good few more coming through very, very soon, one especially big prospect medical pending...
Re: Bryan Collins vs Will Harrison
I think all Will is lacking is a power punch. The kid will work for 10 rounds so can easily out work his opponents. My fear is that while working hard he's taking punches himself. He's had 30 grouling rounds, last 3 fights and the damage will mount up over a period of time.mickey1975 wrote: ↑14 Mar 2025, 19:12 When I said a few years ago the gyms here were thriving and everyone on here laughed, Will wasn't even in the top 20 kids I was thinking of. You cannot say Will Harrison doesn't put effort in because from the first bell to last he will always come forward and mix it up.
Twice I've seen him now and both fights have been crackers.

Not seen any of his amateurs but he's won a cart load of stuff.
Is he about to turn to the pros then Mick?

Re: Bryan Collins vs Will Harrison
The reason is Leo is a 2007 fighter. He can't box in the seniors until next year. He didn't get a bout in the nationals this year. He's busy sparring Pat Brown and Orie at the minute. He seems to be somewhere in between the two of them in terms of size.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Mar 2025, 10:14 nice leo been beasting it, i guess an olaniyan fight will have to wait

Who on here laughed when you said that the gyms were thriving? Surely that’s good news for all of us?

Maybe laughed is the wrong word. It was a thread where everyone was saying how boxing was going downhill and nobody was interested and I simply said it was thriving near me.jameswilson wrote: ↑15 Mar 2025, 10:55 Who on here laughed when you said that the gyms were thriving? Oh f uck me yeah the doom and gloom merchants are incredible on here. About how it was better 20-25 years ago. They need to look back at some of the sh1te we used to all stay in for back then. Enzo Mac vs Rich La Montagne with an 8 rounder as chief support was the norm. I still remember Enzo saying one of those god awful WBU defences he had was enough to warrant a shot at Johnny Nelson and the WBO while Nelson was watching on po faced.mickey1975 wrote: ↑15 Mar 2025, 12:05Maybe laughed is the wrong word. I think it's fantastic when Yorkshire find talent, at any sport. Generally it's always been considered that the north has been unfairly treated with grants, and generally places where the up and coming can thrive.mickey1975 wrote: ↑15 Mar 2025, 12:05Maybe laughed is the wrong word. There are a lot of places in Yorkshire that are forgotten and have plenty of talent.

Atang is from a middle class background. He is a PR dream. His mate Brad Casey will probably turn after the seniors. When Leo spars Brown, Brad spars Tudsbury, when Leo spars Orie, Brad spars Liam Cameron. There's two more coming after them that I'm convinced will go far.MasterG wrote: ↑15 Mar 2025, 14:39I think it's fantastic when Yorkshire find talent, at any sport. Re: Bryan Collins vs Will Harrison
I have had chats with a few in different areas recently about possibly turning.
