Bit short notice. Who’s he gonna fight? A nobody obviously.

Zucco’s not bad is he? I just imagined he would be a typical overmatched Italian.
He’s got some fast hands on him & I don’t think Simpson’s faced a southpaw. Certainly not since he’s been fighting on Sky. Styles should gel well.

Yeah have to say it's unfortunate for there to be 2 cards on saturday night and both have such poor undercards.

Lets hope sense prevails. If it doesn't then it becomes clear both sides can't be reasonable with one another tho.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025, 18:03You reckon the main events will clashjameswilson wrote: ↑04 Jun 2025, 18:00 Yeah have to say it's unfortunate for there to be 2 cards on saturday night and both have such poor undercards.

Does anyone reckon the Italian is really a puncher or is this one of those carefully doctored records?
I guess I’ll have to watch him
Seems unlikely you’d bring in a threat to the local boy who is actually a real ticket seller, unless you’re into self inflicted pain.

Just had a closer look at his record, yeah clearly padded. He’s not knocked out anyone that would make you think he’s a genuine threat.
Re: Callum Simpson vs. Ivan Zucco | Sky Sports - 7 June 2025
I don’t know if he’s a puncher but he’s got some ability. He looked pretty decent in the Brown fight
Re: Callum Simpson vs. Ivan Zucco | Sky Sports - 7 June 2025
Popped down to the weigh in today.
A few thoughts -
Shane McGuigan is pretty small. I don’t know if I’m alone but I always thought Shane was tall. He’s only average height at best. Maybe it’s years of seeing him with his dad, Frampton & Josh Pritchard.
Johnny Nelson is a thoroughly decent human being. While the rest of the Sky team kept themselves to themselves in the cordoned off section he made an effort to speak to people & have photos & was taking the time to ask some young lads from Simpson’s amateur gym about their records. I know he comes out with some nonsense at times but he’s a good bloke is Johnny.
Shalom wasn’t present which I found a bit strange. Simpson’s been a huge success story for him, arguably his best find & I was surprised he wasn’t there.
Sam Hickey seems a likeable lad. Spoke really well & has sold 150 tickets to his fans from Dundee which is one hell of a journey. He’ll probably have the second best support there on the night.
Mark Jeffers really needs to get his name out there. He wants there to be some kind of rivalry with Simpson but there were no pantomime boo’s for him or anything like that. Fans just politely applauded him like they did the journeymen on the bill. I honestly don’t think Simpson-Jeffers sells many more tickets than Simpson versus a random European which is probably why Maree & Shalom aren’t making it yet.

Re: Callum Simpson vs. Ivan Zucco | Sky Sports - 7 June 2025
Interesting, I’ve not really heard of Mark Jeffers.
Weird Shalom wasn’t there, and apparently Frank and Eddie missing from Weigh in/press conference recently? has Turki called them in for a sauna meeting?
Do we reckon the two main events will clash tonight, if so, the heavyweight one might be over during the introductions for this one I guess.
Anyway, what does sky care, probably throwing the towel in by the looks of it - maybe they’ll just go box office prestige events down the road, although they’ve screwed the pooch recently with the advertising % fiasco, and are probably running out of money with the boxing budget.
Company Johnny is a nice guy, but he doesn’t half talk a load of shite. What’s the betting with sky going under Adam Smith pulls him over to DAZN because he’s such a GREAT GUY.

I wondered the same about a possible meeting after seeing Warren & Hearn weren’t in Ipswich either.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑07 Jun 2025, 04:14 Interesting, I’ve not really heard of Mark Jeffers.

Jeffers looks a decent talent but this is the first time he’ll fight quite high up a bill & isn’t well known at all. He’s got this idea that he’s somehow been avoided but the truth is both he & Simpson have the same manager & promoter. If they thought Jeffers was the better fighter it would have been him that got the push & the opportunities that Simpson has got & has taken.
I think there will definitely be a clash as they have to have main events done by a certain time in outdoor stadiums.
I think more hardcore boxing fans will watch Wardley but far more will watch Simpson as it’s on Sky.

Funny that the board allowed Eubank to fight. It’s amazing what difference money makes.

Re: Callum Simpson vs. Ivan Zucco | Sky Sports - 7 June 2025
Adam Azim-Eliot Chavez cancelled on fight day
The junior-welterweight contest between Adam Azim and Eliot Chavez has been cancelled by the British Boxing Board of Control.
England's Azim and Chavez, of Mexico, were scheduled to fight on the undercard of Saturday's European super-middleweight title fight between Azim's compatriot Callum Simpson and the Italian Ivan Zucco at Oakwell Football Ground in Barnsley, England.
The 30-year-old Chavez, however, according to a statement released on social media by the promoters Boxxer, no longer has the permission of the governing body of British boxing to fight, as a consequence of his using a sauna to make weight.
"The British Boxing Board of Control has withdrawn permission for Eliot Chavez to face Adam Azim in Barnsley following concerns raised by The Mexican Boxing Commission relating to Chavez's use of a sauna to make weight – a practice that is prohibited by the board," the statement read.
Azim, 23, had made weight on Friday. He would have been fighting for the first time since impressively stopping Kazakhstan's Sergey Lipinets in February. He and Chavez were scheduled to fight over eight rounds; their date had been confirmed only three days ahead of fight night.

I don’t think he used a sauna did he?
I know there was an investigation with them videos of him in that hot suit. Not sure what happened with that.
