DON CHARLES INSISTS OLEKSANDR USYK 'CONNED THE REFEREE', PROMISES REVENGE IN DANIEL DUBOIS REMATCH

One month shy of two years since their first meeting, Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) and Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) will do battle again in a different setting - home turf for the British champion - the scene of his career-best stoppage win over Anthony Joshua last September.

Double the size of Wroclaw Stadium, Wembley will play home to Dubois' attempt at redemption when facing the unbeaten Ukrainian unified king, who relinquished the IBF strap last summer to facilitate Dubois-Joshua for a recently-vacant title.

During their Tuesday presser, Dubois' head coach Don Charles gave Usyk his plaudits but maintained a defiant stance that Usyk's subtle tactics - gesticulating and complaining every time a body shot landed low - from minute one pressured referee Luis Pabon into a mistake, en route to a ninth-round stoppage victory.

"Me as a boxing coach, I have a lot of respect for you. It's remarkable but disappoints me that you can stoop so low, print the actual shot that had you trembling, the acting you did that night... you deserve an Oscar or Emmy award for the performance. You conned the referee, us, the boxing world, I've always maintained that and will, you pride yourself as a God-fearing man, thou shall not lie."

Usyk was given ample recovery time after suffering a fifth-round body punch deemed low by Puerto Rican referee Luis Pabon, though Dubois was not deducted a point and the post-fight fallout surrounded that round's contentious events.

"God has summoned you for Daniel to get revenge," Charles continued.

Usyk's manager Egis Klimas warned Charles against declaring his fighter a cheat, saying any accusations or questions should be levelled at the 32-year pro referee.

When asked by Dev Sahni whether Usyk would've made the count had it been deemed legal, Charles was unequivocal with his stance.

"I was two metres away from the incident, not because he's my fighter but there's no way in the world... his central nervous system was shut down, that's why he was trembling. At no point did he grab the area supposedly hit, you reach for your groin but he was by his stomach area.

"He conditioned the referee prior to that punch, pointing there all the time, he's only a human being and panicked. When you get to a certain level, you get favouritism, he had already been conditioned. Go examine it with a panel, in-fact, you don't need that because on July 19, we'll dissect and investigate you, you'll get found out."

Usyk could have got up anytime. But it was a low blow no need. Otherwise Dubois did very little in the first fight. Don’t blame them for finding a hype angle though.

Yeah, that's the thing that these deluded guys are not taking into account. They think Usyk was going to stay down for 10 seconds let alone 4 minutes from that shot if he was given a count? Either way, it was below the belt so the conversation doesn't even need to be had.

Yep, even if it was counted as legit. Usyk would have got up. It wasn't a KO blow.

But it was low anyway. Any moron can see it was a low blow. It just smells like copium from moron Brits and black Americans who get butthurt whenever a black guy lose to a white guy.

Daniel Dubois unfazed by Oleksandr Usyk’s ‘mind games’

Daniel Dubois is not getting involved in the war of the minds ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

The pair will face off on July 19 at London’s Wembley Stadium after a controversial first encounter. Usyk stopped Dubois, but the Englishman’s team argued that the contest should have come to a halt in the fifth round, when the Ukrainian spent over three minutes on the canvas.

Dubois landed a heavy blow on the belt of Usyk; the shot was ruled a low blow by the referee and the Ukrainian was allowed to take his time to recover. Dubois and his team argued that the shot was legal and that Usyk should have been counted out.

Heading into the rematch, Usyk presented Dubois with pamphlets at the launch press conference that displayed the legal areas in which boxers are permitted to land punches on their opponents. The Ukrainian also offered four of Dubois’ team the opportunity to meet with four of his team after the fight for street brawl in the center of London.

“Psychological warfare, innit? Yeah, that's him,” Dubois told select members of the press. “He's always in that. I think he's a boring guy. He'll just be at home getting his mind shit. You've got to just beat him in the ring. It's all psychological. When they feel the real pain and the heat, then you can break through that. Power of God on your side, you can do anything.

“I don't think he can handle the pain or the heat that I'm going to bring. I'm going to just step up and win. That's the whole game plan. Win, points, knockout, anything. Win.”

Tensions are high heading into the rematch after the recent comments and controversy surrounding the low blow. Dubois, uncharacteristically, lashed out and pushed Usyk during a head-to-head on the pitch at Wembley Stadium.

“One of them things, if you get angry or something, it just happens in boxing,” Dubois said of the push. “Yeah, it just happens. I want to put my hands on him properly on the 19th and then show everyone.”

Dubois, however, plans to keep a calm head when the pair meet in the ring in July.

“It's always going to be tense in a fight,” he said. “It's not just plain old hatred. It's got to be smart, got to be intelligent, but it's tension. I don't overdo it. It's just, yeah, we're fighting to put the past right, clear up the controversy.”

That's what I was thinking.

Dubois probably doesn't even know what's going on.

I seen plenty comments of people saying they prefer Daniel when he doesn't talk.

“Triple D baby all day, every day.

In my eyes, Triple D is the only one who has ever hurt Usyk and put him down on the floor and made him think, and he was down there for like three, four minutes.

Who’s to say once he fights Uysk again he won’t go out there and absolutely destroy him and bring our belts back to our country like it’s supposed to be.”

‘I give him a big puncher’s chance’: Tony Bellew believes Daniel Dubois has a shot to upset Oleksandr Usyk

Tony Bellew tells Sky Sports that Daniel Dubois deserves credit for taking another fight with Oleksandr Usyk considering it’s been proven to be such a steep hill to climb. Dubois was stopped by Usyk in the summer of 2023 but now has a second shot at the Ukrainian on July 19, and this time with undisputed status on the line.

Bellew would say that Dubois has shown improvements since his loss to Usyk, and therefore he’s not completely without a shot to win even if he will be the underdog heading into the fight.

“He’s in with a real chance in this fight. I don’t think he’s going to win but I give him a big puncher’s chance. If he doesn’t let Usyk frustrate him, he’s in the fight, but it’s going to be a really difficult start for him because Usyk will know his strengths and powers, and let’s be honest, he also knows his weaknesses because he has been in the ring with him before.”

Conversely Dubois will think he knows Usyk’s weaknesses as well as he still believes he legitimately dropped Usyk with a body shot that’s still debated today. Dubois can’t live in the past, but he indicates he’ll be coming into this fight with a confidence he hasn’t had before as he looks to take the crown from what most consider to be the best pound for pound fighter in the sport.

I mean, you'd have to think. I don't reckon Dubois is someone you just come in and figure you're going to blow him away and whatever is coming back doesn't matter. I think the low blow was more of a good body shot that was "technically" (below the line but with the way his shorts were it was his lower belly not his groin area that got hit) low, if I'm being honest, and Usyk smartly exploited that to recover from it. But yeah, Usyk can't take him lightly. I thought Dubois was going to beat up Joshua and didn't understand why many didn't see it. I probably rate him (Dubois) higher than many seem to on here. Aside from Usyk himself and Fury I think Dubois is the next best heavyweight in the world of the "established" class.

JOSEPH PARKER WANTS SPOT ON USYK-DUBOIS II JULY 19 WEMBLEY CARD AGAINST OLD FOE

Joseph Parker has put forward the idea of fighting Derek Chisora in a trilogy match-up on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk's and Daniel Dubois' undisputed heavyweight world title clash on July 19 at Wembley Stadium.

Now Zealander Parker hasn't fought since a 2nd-round KO of Martin Bakole in February, when he was originally supposed to fight Dubois for the Brit's IBF title.

Dubois fell ill on fight week and pulled out of the contest, however, extending Parker's streak of fighting without a world title on the line to 14.

Parker holds the WBO 'interim' title and is the mandatory challenger for the winner of Usyk vs. Dubois, so his long-awaited shot is just around the corner.

In the meantime, though, the Kiwi warrior wants to remain active and has earmarked a spot on the July 19 Wembley bill as the perfect opportunity to do so.

Pressed on an opponent choice, Parker circled back to an old foe he has shared the ring with twice already.

"I'd like to be out ASAP," he told The Ring. "I know Usyk and Dubois are fighting on July 19, I'd like to either fight not long after that, or it'd be great if I could be on the same card. That's been floated by Queensberry, so it'd be nice.

"Who do I fight? I'm not sure. The belts are held up at the moment. Usyk and Dubois have the belts, and whoever wins, who knows what kind of rematch clauses are in the contract.

"It'd be nice to fight anyone. It'd be nice to fight someone like ... Derek Chisora is looking for his 50th fight, and I'm not sure if he's going to fight for a title. I know I've beaten him twice, but I've never had a trilogy in my career, so Derek always brings it, and it could be a good sort of fight to keep me busy."

Parker also mentioned a potential clash with Dillian Whyte, who had the beating of him when they fought in July 2018.

Whyte won their O2 Arena bout by unanimous decision but the fight was an entertaining one and saw both men hit the canvas.

Whoever Parker fights next, he's insistent that the obvious end goal is to fight the winner of Usyk and Dubois eventually, whether that be the end of 2025 or in 2026 sometime.

"There's also Dillian Whyte," he added. "Fabio Wardley is fighting Justis Huni this weekend, or very soon. There's many options out there. I know [Martin] Bakole wants a rematch, too.

"But I think it would be awesome to fight on the undercard of Usyk and Dubois. I'll fight anyone. Like I said, if there's no one else to fight, Derek Chisora is always keen.

"He's always up for it but he's also got a great following, and he's looking for his 50th fight, and then I'll try and get the winner of Usyk and Dubois.

"In terms of timing, I'm not sure whether it's going to be 2025 or 2026. It just depends on whatever happens with the belts, whether they unify and they have another fight or whether the belts get broken up and spread around. It depends on how that goes."

Wardley/Huni winner is the only one interesting to the fans. Why not Kabayel?

I think most would accept Whyte more if they saw him face someone beforehand but we all know he's well past it and haven't seen anything suggesting otherwise. He's already beat Chisora twice not even that long ago. Bakole he just demolished and Bakole hasn't impressed since.

Unless Usyk gets old overnight I don't see this as an intriguing fight, Dubois basically pulled a Lamon Brewster vs Hrgjovic and wore him out by blocking punches with his face. Vs Joshua he hurt him early and Anthony basically never recovered. He has good power but he's still technically limited and not the smartest fighter. Also did he even win one round the first fight?

Usyk sporting a nice shiner speaking about the Ukraine war, I assume today.

I don’t like it when great fighters are marking up in preparation for a big fight. I remember DLHs shiner prior to the Manny fight.

FRÂŃĶ WÄŘREN: I'M NOT WORRIED ABOUT DANIEL DUBOIS BEING UNDERDOG IN USYK REMATCH - NEITHER IS HE

Fränk Warreņ believes that Daniel Dubois will once again make a mockery of his underdog status and beat Oleksandr Usyk in their upcoming undisputed heavyweight title fight.

IBF titleholder Dubois will face Ring Magazine, WBC, WBA and WBO champion Usyk in a rematch at London's Wembley Stadium on July 19th.

Over 70,000 tickets have been sold for the fight which could see Dubois make history.

Although Dubois' fellow Brit, Lennox Lewis, was universally recognised as the undisputed heavyweight champion when he outpointed Evander Holyfield in 1999, Lewis never held the WBO title.

Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) recently told talkSPORT that beating 38-year-old Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) would be "the greatest victory in boxing" and his promoter Warren agrees with the Londoner's assessment.

"Look, the blue riband is the heavyweight division, I think everybody agrees on that," Warren told Queensberry.

"The four belts are on the line, it's the biggest one out there. No Brit has ever held the four belts.

Dubois is still only 27-years-old but his eight-year pro career has been a rollercoaster ride.

His prodigious punching power and a whole host of leaked stories about his sparring exploits meant that he was anointed as a future heavyweight champion before even entering the professional ranks.

Things went perfectly until November 2020 when Joe Joyce's thumping jab cracked his eye socket and forced him to take a knee in the tenth round of their British, Commonwealth and European title fight. From that point, a man once touted as the division's future was widely written off as a frontrunner who would crumble the moment he encountered any resistance.

Critics were given further fuel by the way he broke down mentally during his first fight with Usyk. Fighting the Ukrainian is an exhausting and frustrating experience, though Dubois sank to his knee and allowed himself to be counted out in the ninth round of their unified heavyweight title fight in Poland two summers ago.

Suddenly fighting for his career, the lack of expectation seemed to wake up something inside Dubois. He stopped Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic in genuine make-or-break fights and last September, arrived at Wembley Stadium for his fight with Anthony Joshua as the IBF heavyweight champion.

A self-assured Dubois looked absolutely unstoppable from the moment he left his dressing room and demolished the two-time unified champion in five one-sided rounds to cement his status as a worthy world champion.

Warren has stuck with Dubois since the very start of his career and although Dubois will be an underdog once again on July 19th, the Hall of Fame promoter believes that he is in the perfect spot to score a famous victory.

"He's not been a favourite going into his last four fights. Make that five fights because the bookmakers are making Usyk the favourite," Warren said.

"He wasn't a favourite in Poland, those Riyadh Season fights with Miller and Hrgovic and certainly wasn't against Joshua where he went into the lion's den.

"I ain't worried about that and he's not worried about it. He's in a good place of mind, believes in himself and his ability as we do. That's why we've made the fight."

LAWRENCE OKOLIE VS. KEVIN LERENA ADDED TO USYK-DUBOIS II CARD, LAPIN-EDMONDSON ALSO ON BILL

Lawrence Okolie will take on Kevin Lerena on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois' undisputed heavyweight world championship clash at Wembley Stadium on July 19, it's been confirmed.

Okolie (21-1, 16 KOs) hasn't been in action since an easy 1st-round knockout win over Hussein Muhamed last December.

The former cruiserweight and bridgerweight world champion was supposed to take on Richard Riakporhe on April 5 but pulled out of the bout with an injury sustained in training camp.

But now he's back against awkward southpaw Lerena (31-3, 15 KOs), who is best known for dropping current IBF heavyweight champion Dubois three times before being controversially stopped in the 3rd round when they fought in December 2022.

Lerena has also been in with Justis Huni previously, losing by decision on the undercard of Anthony Joshua-Francis Ngannou in March 2024.

The fight represents a step up in competition for Okolie at heavyweight, where he is the current No. 1 contender with the WBC.

The Londoner has been vocal about his intentions of fighting current 'interim' titleholder Agit Kabayel at some point this year, and a win over Lerena will put him in good stead for a clash with the German.

Elsewhere on the Usyk-Dubois bill, it's been announced that British and commonwealth light heavyweight champion Lewis Edmondson will take on Ukrainian Daniel Lapin.

Lapin has regularly fought Usyk's undercards since September 2021 when the current Ring, WBA, WBC, WBO heavyweight champion took on and beat Anthony Joshua at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He was also on both Usyk-Tyson Fury cards in May and December 2024, the latter of which he beat Dylan Colin on by 10-round decision.
