Good find. I've always seen Reg Gutteridge as a huge Ali fan, especially listening to him when he commentates on Ali, maybe that's why I thought that he was advocating for Ali.
Why I misremembered that Cooper was on the Marciano team I have no idea.

That info is wrong, man.
I remember the episode and distinctly remember Reg speaking with Dennis Waterman and then Brian London about Ali.

It definitely goes against what I remember.
Would Mr Giller be mistaken about the episode that he wrote though?

Maybe the writer got it confused?
I remember Waterman saying to Reg, that Andrews only argument or 'plank' as he called it was that Ali lost 5 times and Reg told him that Andrews forgot to mention that Ali avenged 3 of them, and to ignore the last 2 defeats as Ali was waaaay past anything close to his best, which was obviously true. Waterman then said that Andrews deliberately omitted that as he did not want the 'Jury' to know that.
They were standing side by side.
I am 100% sure, but its all in the past and both were tremendous fighters.
Cooper was also in the Marciano team (along with Williams and Andrews), witherspoon. You were right, originally.
Not unless some kind of Mandela effect has taken place........

Yes, now that you mention this exchange it has triggered a clear memory. I even remember my dad chuckling in agreement with Reg on that one.
