Yes if you pay a year upfront it’s a tenner a month so not too expensive, what annoys me is then paying another £25 to watch a PPV fight. So if this means less (or no) PPV events that’s a move in the right direction for me. I guess it depends if they up the monthly or yearly subscription which I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
I rarely buy a PPV, just on principle.

As someone that watches most big events, plus others, yet has never paid for a PPV or subscription service, I could be convinced by £10 with no PPV with guaranteed big fights if there was more than just boxing on DAZN in the UK in terms of major sports (Football, Rugby, UFC). There would have to be enough cards in the European timezone as well, not just the US.

I did on occasion, mainly HW fights but I didn't subscribe to Sky Sports so the odd one off PPV was manageable. I’ve since scrapped Sky altogether. Considering getting the Usyk PPV though and then cancelling after 7 day free trial. Could be tempted with full DAZN subscription though if PPV is scrapped and it stays a tenner a month.

Chris McKenna put this up on X this morning
Boxxer have held talks with the BBC over broadcasting shows on iPlayer, but on a much smaller scale than the previous broadcast deal. Big-name fighters on their books believe they could be free agents if no new deal is announced soon.
A few other reporters are also reporting the same claim. It wouldn't be a bad thing to see boxing back on the BBC :TU:

You can’t really compare boxing to WWE. WWE has million dollar gates plus several times a week and it’s watched globally. They also make a load from merch and the wrestlers get paid far less than the big time boxers get.

If the BBC, or other free to air broadcasters, showed regional and domestic fights no higher than British/Commonwealth/Euro level, I think most people would be happy with that even if there no no current big names. Can't expect the cream of the crop on free to air TV but it gives fans an option and is also a good stepping stone for new or younger fans who might find PPV and paid options less accessible. It might actually benefit the big promoters as the public will be more likely to know their guys before they make a big step up.

I found boxing simplest to follow in the 70s and 80s when it was on BBC and ITV, so did all the other lads from poor backgrounds on the school bus. Lots of us went on to have a go at boxing, some of us went on to have competitive fights. Our parents couldn't have bought a PPV or premium DAZN subscription had they been a thing then.

If the Saudis are in boxing for PR, why are they money grubbing with the likes of DAZN and parasitic promoters?

Why not sign and promote boxers on free to air platforms? Pay the top fighters less and rely on ads and live gates to keep the cost of your investment acceptable.

Boxing behind paywalls would then get very few viewers and wouldn't be viable.

Forget about making a profit from boxing and focus on promoting your country through the sport.

Get in front of millions and millions of eyes each year for not a lot of money. Soft power 101.

So if I'm reading this right, you will need two subscriptions, your normal sub, if you only want that, or you would pay another sub to cover what is now considered PPV if you only want that  which could be combined into one super subscription, which of course would cost a lot more, or have I read it wrong :maybe:

I noticed that. Like a IFC fight pass.. they gonna have a Ring Pass.

Now it all depends on how much?

So you get ur basic DAZN sub.

And then everything Riyadh Season and Ring put up. Instead of a one off PPV cost, they gonna spread the cost into the year via a ring pass.

Again. How much will it be?

Ring Magazine will have put on 4 cards this year.

Riyadh season have put on maybe 3-4 by years end?

How much is the Ring Pass? I already pay monthly. DAZN mess their customers around so much they have changed their pricing policies like 6 times or more. "SAY GOODBYE TO PPV!" They told us

It's PPV in disguise. They'll end up making the same or more overall. Not all of the shows they put on will be PPV level. We've had this same thing for the past 30 years...

Tbh, the 4 ring cards this year.. what they been?

Eubank-Benn
Times Square
Sheeraz-Berlanga
Benavidez-Yarde

On paper before the events bar the one that’s not happened, there’s been good hype and good fights.

And we get a mixture of boxers from different promotions.

It’s easy to criticise them after they happened. On paper the Times Square card was loaded with them 3 fights, all which would have been their own headline.

How can you buy a year pass for PPV's when you haven't got a clue what they will be ? They will probably make shows that would be normal DAZN PPV just to make it look better, going to be a total rip off

None of those cards are headlines by genuine blockbusters with two huge names or champs on either side.

I was referring to the Time Sq card.

Before oil money,

Them 3 fights would have been put on as a headline by their promoters… and maybe even one of them a PPV.

Instead we got them all in on night.

Stevenson-Zepeda was co-main, that would have been its own headline in the States too.

Maybe we’ve gotten too use to Oil money cards recently that now we want more. It used to be way worse..

Yes I didn't read all first time but the second part about the Ring Pass kind of suggests you will still need to pay for certain PPVs even if you have bought a yearly DAZN membership. Now makes me think you buy the year membership and they move the goalposts later and you are effectively back to a two tier payment scheme.

DAZN have changed up their pricing too much in the past few years.

I got DAZN when it first came out & they said then that they wouldn't have PPV.

Then they signed Canelo & went PPV crazy.

Plus the three price increases in a cost of living crisis or global recession.
Have you seen the undercard for the Uysk Doobie PPV? It's absolutely gash.
£25 for that ain't worth it because even the main event is a rehash.

You have DAZN there too?

Most things are on foxtel? Or fox? Kayo?
