Was pleased to see this. Just my opinion but it’s good to have someone other than Hearn and Warren, plus he’s only 31 he’s done a lot already. I think some of their actions have been akin to bullying, Eddie I think is very much a posh bully so it rankles and irks me. Hope Ben does well here.

Eddie’s claiming Matchroom’s production company were asked if they’d be part of the tender to produce Boxxer’s shows on BBC. He said the contact was for 4 shows over 12 months.

Shalom also said he’d be able to do PPVs elsewhere so I wonder if he’ll try and get a couple of Sky PPVs just to ensure he keeps his Sky fighters.

The problem is that he hasn't got any fighters to headline a PPV Bill.
He might well get a Whittaker on an undercard of a Turki fight, but realistically nobody is going to do him any favours,

It’ll be Eubank I’m guessing.

They’ll be hoping to get some of their better fighters who don’t shift tickets like Riley & Whittaker on the Eubank - Benn undercard whilst he has his midland fighters, CBS, Callum Simpson & Lauren Price to headline cards.

As long as Eubank wins then Eubank will get another Sky PPV next year & they’ll be hoping it’s against Canelo.

If it's Saturday night and Ben reckons it'll be on BB1, they'll have to go before or after MOTD. Unless they schedule the shows in the international break. That would make sense if there are four shows planned.

First Boxxer show to be broadcast on BBC ‘sooner than you think,’ says Ben Shalom

“It’s been a long time coming to be fair, so I’m happy,” said Ben Shalom just hours after announcing that Boxxer was linking up with the BBC as part of a new TV deal. “The feedback has been very good.”

Shalom’s previous contract, with Sky Sports, expired earlier this year, with a final show featuring super middleweight contender Callum Simpson boxing at Barnsley’s Oakwell Stadium for a second time.

“It’s a multi-fight, multi-year deal,” Shalom said of the BBC pact.

“A lot of our fighters want to be pay-per-view stars, and we just made that route a lot easier.”

Shalom is set to announce a second broadcast partner for the pay-per-view side of the business in the coming weeks.

Announcing the deal to their 10.6m followers on X, BBC Sport headlined: “BBC Sport will show live Boxxer fights – The new broadcast deal will see action shown on Saturday nights across BBC TV and BBC iPlayer.”

It continued: “Saturday night fights on the BBC! Watch live across BBC TV and BBC iPlayer, with additional behind-the-scenes content on BBC Sounds, the BBC Sport website and social media.”

“BBC are our exclusive free-to-air partner, we will have a different pay TV partner for pay-per-view, but it allows us to build the pay-per-view stars more quickly,” said Shalom.

Asked when the next announcement would come, Shalom said: “That will be quite soon, but we wanted to do BBC first.”

There are still a lot of unknowns about the deal, including when the first show is and what fighters will appear. Shalom, who wanted to focus on the triumph of getting the BBC involved back in boxing again, would not confirm whether September 27, as reported by the Daily Star, was accurate as a launch, but said the first card would be “sooner than you think.”

Asked whether Boxxer was involved in Chris Eubank Jnr’s November rematch with Conor Benn in November, as they were when Eubank – represented by Boxxer – defeated his rival in April at Tottenham Stadium, Shalom said: “[It’s the] same as last time.”

Who watches TV anymore?
I would think its only an aging demographic, my teenage kids have absolutely no interest in it.
It's going to die eventually and with the BBC involved I'm not sorry.
How it can be described as " free to air" God only knows?
I didn't mind Shalom before and felt some of the stick was OTT , but hope this tie up fails miserably.

Yeah I sounded silly I didn't mean Ben is from a council estate, I mainly meant Eddie seems a bully and just lobbed in the posh word as an extra.

He's my favourite British fighter of all time tbh, always in absolutely quality fights and holds some great wins.

thanks mate, I have nothing to grumble about at all and feel extremely positive. Rothman that was it!! I have only ever been able to find a poor soundless recording on YT, it was such a good fight. Thompson looks extremely healthy these days, read an interview with him, think he has a gym and does fitness classes, he has even brought his weight down from CW and looks the picture of health. I always liked him too, a proper warrior, very gently spoken too. Came across as a gentleman.

Boxxer is now going after John Wischusen in the courts, according to this link, supposedly for breach of contract.

Perhaps Benny sees the way to make money in the future is through litigation rather than being a boxing promoter
