Fantastic I was keeping an eye on what was happening with old Ike on god forsaken twitter. He’s back and Usyk will surely retire than face the president - he’ll say he was going to retire anyway, but the world will know the truth.

African heavtweight who was unbeaten in 20 fights, including wins over Tua & Byrd. Career came to an end over legal problems. Trying to make a comeback in his 50s.

The President has shattered Tyson's record of the longest gap in between professional contests by 7 years, with a colossal 26 years in between fights.

Obviously he gets smoked by anybody in the top 30, but he doesn't seem as if he wants to stop dreaming just yet, because in his mind, the concept of ageing seemingly doesn't exist.

He does actually look younger than 52 facially, so he probably thinks he's a lot younger!

Wrote this rbr while cooking for the family and managing a dodgy Nigerian stream, so couldn't quite give it the attention it deserved. But 24 hours later the main image which seems to have seared itself into my mind -- other than that third rd when Ike found his range and began putting punches together -- was during the pre fight. They kept replaying the same cut away over and over, and it was like something out of a nightmare. Ike in a dark dungeon-like dressing room, dressed all in black, wrapped in chains and grinning demonically while shadow boxing. There was this eerie music playing and he was flanked by all these goons also dressed in black, all of them glowering as one into camera, and honest to god the scene was what you'd expect to greet you if you'd died and gone to hell.

I'll rewatch my recording of the fight but from what I saw he'd squash Danny Williams and Shannon Briggs, and any novelty type opponents. Mike Tyson in spite of his appalling lifestyle looked sharp at 54 versus Roy and all but decomposed at 58 versus Paul. Perhaps Ike has a couple of years left to make something happen.

There's so much romanticism around Ibeabuchi.

Any other fighter that had taken a quarter of century out, with most of it due to being incarcerated and came back with a win against a Pepsi can in their early 50s would be laughed out of town.

Not so with this guy.

I've read comments online from people giving him a shot against guys in the top 20!

It's almost as if he exists in a parallel universe where there is no such thing as ageing and that Ibeabuchi is still the same cat that he was last time he could fight, in the late 1990s.

Lets not kid ourselves, if Ibeabuchi dares to get in a ring with anybody with a pulse, he gets banged out, or at the very least, widely outclassed.

I'm not picking Ike to beat Usyk, but from what I saw he'll crush Danny Williams. He can win novelty fights like Trey Morrison, Shannon Briggs, Hasim Rahman Jr etc. As far as the top 20 goes, would it be that shocking if he beat the 44 year old Pulev?

Tell you what though, given how freakishly well-preserved he looks at 52, I do wonder what he could have accomplished had he got that first comeback going back in 2015, when he was 'only' 42.
