Re: Shakur Stevenson vs. Teofimo Lopez - January 2025?
To gain the respect I think SS needs to stand up on his business and front Teo up a minimum of 6 times
The going rate has always been about 3 for big fights, but in order to put him in those big fights he's gotta do this

What are you talking about with front him a minimum of 6 times.
Front what? 6 times what?
You kinda talked past your point on that one.

Let's see some offense

Re: Shakur Stevenson vs. Teofimo Lopez - January 2025?
Neither of them have had a really big hyped up fight like this
Both 28
22-1 Teo
24-0 Shakur
It's an opportunity
Let's go for it
Re: Shakur Stevenson vs. Teofimo Lopez - January 2025?
Shakur definitely hasn't. Teo's fight with Lomachenko was a big deal. He just fought very carefully in it, He won, but it was a careful tactical effort. I expect this will be more of the same. It undoubtedly will be careful and tactical from Shakur's side. That's all he can do.

I see where you're coming from
Are you saying Shakur's most reliable asset is his defence and that's it ?
Re: Shakur Stevenson vs. Teofimo Lopez - January 2025?
Remember Pernell Whitaker v James Buddy McGirt 1
Great boxer Buddy against a defensive genius Pernell
Sweet Pea won on defence and look good doing it, can Shakur do the same in hostile surroundings if it goes down In Teo's place
If it turns out to be a good fight everyone wins and moves onto bigger things
We should do this
Give em a shot and hope they don't let us down

Yes he has defense. He has movement. He punches like a Paulie Malignaggi. Personally I hope Shakur loses here, and we can just quickly be done with him as a relevant boxer, but I doubt we'll be that lucky.Evander wrote: ↑27 Sep 2025, 00:58You're pretty firm on that ehgilgamesh wrote: ↑27 Sep 2025, 00:38Shakur definitely hasn't. If somehow a miracle happens, and they give us an exciting fight maybe we could see a rematch, but I'd honestly be shocked at seeing a Shakur Stevenson fight be exciting.

Teofimo-Shakur fight deemed 'imminent' for late January in New York
Talks to stage a superb match of American champions Teofimo Lopez and Shakur Stevenson were described on Tuesday as “on track."
An individual familiar with the negotiations told Boxing Scene that recent discussions have been so positive that it’s accurate to assess that the WBO 140lbs title bout is “imminent” to occur in late January in New York.
“The Ring” bout will be staged by Saudi Arabia boxing financier Turki Alalshikh, who this year has brought high-profile cards to New York’s Times Square and Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Junior-welterweight and two-division champion Lopez 22-1 (13 KOs) of Brooklyn last fought on the Times Square card, convincingly defeating interim champion Arnold Barboza Jnr by unanimous decision.
Three-division champion Stevenson 24-0 (11 KOs) of Newark, N.J., fought on the July card at the tennis facility, overwhelming power-punching Mexican William Zepeda by scores of 118-110, 118-110, 119-109.
The personable fighters are both 28 years old and arrive at the peak of their careers, each slotted within the various pound-for-pound rankings.
With DAZN staging a lightweight main event in Las Vegas January 24 between IBF champion Raymond Muratalla and 2021 Olympic gold medalist Andy Cruz of Cuba, the expectation is that Lopez-Stevenson will land on January 31.
That’s an attractive television date slotted between the prior weekend’s NFL conference championship games and the Super Bowl.
