I don’t know, I’ve never seen the fight but the depiction fits the Hollywood pattern

After the Rocky movies where Boxers were portrayed as blocking every single punch thrown with their face, Fight scenes in movies have suffered quite a bit in the realism department.

The one movie where the fight footage was so realistic that it almost became tedious was the Will Smith movie "Ali". In some scenes on that movie they actually went so far as to act out some of the fight details almost punch for punch, and step for step.

Jack Johnson's probably the most overrated fighter of alltime.

Interesting choice counselor. I loved watching GGG but have to agree on some points. He was handed his belt against an opponent who probably wasn’t in anybody’s top 50 (Nunes was 20-35 after the GGG wipeout) and he didn’t fight a live title defense for three years until his 8th, vs Macklen, so I am with you on that one. To me he was 1-1-1 vs Canelo

- GGG and Canelo early on some of my favs, but I never liked my favs fighting each other. So when they did fight, I had unlocked the current nontransparent scoring apparatus boxing uses that generates a fantastical Hue and Cry every other week if not every week...it's all about manipulating the odds and decision for the big players.

First fight Canelo fought as a natural counterpuncher, often walking backwards in order to walk GGG into right hands. GGG offense was always ferocious, ie his offense was his defense since he demolished so many so early. I score even rounds because those are the rounds fans scream about saying their guy wins them. Had Canelo by a point, so ecstatic to see a Split Draw, however...

GGG fans throwing in with the always despicable Adalaide Byrd 118-110 ain't a good look for you. Moretti and Trella got it right.

2nd fight weren't even close. Canelo with his blood up took ring center and knocked GGG out of it anytime he entered. Last two rounds Canelo finished like the first fight by walking GGG into Rights that ended in a Majority Decision when in fact the fight wasn't even close.

3rd fight was a make up fight after the two former friends and sparmates buried the hatchet for a lucrative GGG sendoff.

But I never saw either as overrated.

Ali for me a huge overrate. Seen him get beat up too many X, yet getting favorable decisions or ref intervention. His team and fans obviously didn't care for his health that kept him going far too long with the obvious horrors by the time of his retirement.

Holmes lineal title claims because of that fight also endemic of idiocy of the way boxing does it's business which is how the Paul Bros enter into boxing...c'est la vie

Dunno, I think GGG outpoints him. Pirog is like fighters who die young, his forced early retirement makes you wonder about “what if,” but I think he is a little overrated because he wasn’t really tested beyond Jacobs. Not his fault, it just is.

Golovkin definitely would've knocked out Pirog, and ended his career with a head injury instead of a back injury if the back injury wasn't already there.

golovkin wouldve beat pirog handily. a lotta people seem to have their memory of pirog limited to the ko punch vs jacobs

In Pirog’s first defense the inexperienced Javier Marcial gave him a lot to handle by applying the kind of pressure GGG excelled at. IMO Martinez would have outpointed Pirog too

Pirog was excellent defensively, I doubt that GGG would have landed a clean punch to the head.

Who's a guy who kinda has a good reputation just because he gave a few people a good fight when he lost? Those tend to be the kinda guys that get overrated a little.

ya even nobuhiro ishida was giving him competitive rounds, that was when i fell off pirog wagon (and then he retired anyway)

Where do you think Robinson is rated, for you to consider him overrated? And where do you rate him in comparison?

Overrated. All great fighters but

Tyson - casuals put him on a pedastal as he looks so good in highlight reels. He’s prob later reaches of an all time top ten heavy list. Best win was over a past it holmes. Beat up alphabet champions and that’s it. Great fighter but the thread is overrated and his record put up against say Lennox’s is sorely lacking.

Mike mcallum - obviously a great fighter but he’s overrated by people seemingly wanting to prove they know about a boxer less famous than a hagler or Leonard. They usually let themselves down by saying hagler avoided him but one Quick Look at dates of fights proves that wasn’t the case.

Larry Holmes - again truly great fighter but his record has a few holes. The spinks losses for two. Same reasons as for the body snatcher. Again great great fighter not criticising him but people like to overate him. For me he wasn’t as good as Ali.

Frank Bruno. People have short memories. He wasn’t really world level. Lost to every good boxer he faced. Apart from mcall. Best wins an ancient bugner and a totally past it Coetzee. Was excellent for a few rounds against Lennox though.

Dempsey also overrated. His record as champ is poor. Struggling defences against guys he’d beaten before. Avoided black fighters and greb. It’s possible he’s underrated too lol. If he’d have fought and beaten wills for example.
